Product Description

The Extron NetPA U 2004 FX is a four-channel, Dante-enabled power amplifier with software-configurable outputs that simultaneously drive 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V loads in multi-zone systems. With integrated DSP and a built-in mix matrix, this networked amplifier handles essential signal processing for complex, decentralized commercial AV systems, while AES67 support ensures compatibility with other network audio devices. It is well suited to corporate campuses, education facilities, houses of worship, and hospitality venues that route audio over a Dante network and require flexible, zoned amplification.

Each of the four channels can be independently configured for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V operation, so a single chassis can serve mixed speaker configurations such as dual zones of high-impedance ceiling speakers plus a low-impedance subwoofer. The total power of each adjacent channel pair is shared, allowing up to 400 watts to be allocated to a single channel where the system requires it. A built-in mix matrix routes any analog or Dante input to any amplifier output, Dante output, or analog line output, with DSP functions including gain, filters, dynamics, and delay. PoE on the LAN/AT 1 port keeps DSP, Dante routing, and line I/O operating even if mains power is lost.

InstaWake returns the amplifier to full power from standby in under 50 milliseconds on signal detection, with minimal inrush current. The fan-cooled 1U enclosure does not require empty rack spaces for ventilation. For larger eight-channel projects without Dante, pair this unit with the XPA U 2008 FX, or explore matched processors and amplifiers in the Extron collection.

Key Features

  • Four 200 W channels into 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V — Built for large, high-powered, multi-zone integration projects with mixed speaker types.
  • Software-configurable output mode per channel — Each channel is independently set for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V operation, supporting unique configurations within one amplifier.
  • Flexible power allocation — Up to 400 total watts per channel pair can be balanced between adjacent channels to deliver power where it is needed.
  • Dante audio networking with AES67 — 8x8 Dante routing with Dante Domain Manager and AES67 support for compatibility across enterprise network audio systems.
  • Onboard DSP with mix matrix — Routes any analog or Dante input to any output with gain, filtering, dynamics, and delay processing.
  • PoE-enabled DSP, routing, and configuration — DSP, Dante routing, and analog line I/O continue operating on PoE if mains power is lost, and the unit can be configured on PoE alone before installation.
  • InstaWake recovery in under 50 milliseconds — Returns to full power from standby on signal detection so audio is not cut off, with minimal inrush current.
  • Ecofficient Level 2 design — Automatic standby conserves energy while maintaining DSP and external control functions.
  • Analog line inputs and post-DSP line outputs — Connect legacy analog sources and feed additional amplifiers while maintaining consistent processing.
  • Configurable dual LAN ports — Separate control and Dante traffic by port, or merge onto a single port for converged-network operation.
  • IP and RS-232 control with digital I/O — Integrates with control systems and responds to external triggers such as preset recall.
  • Extron Everlast power supply — Worldwide power compatibility backed by a 7-year parts and labor warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

What audio network does the NetPA U 2004 FX use?
It uses Dante audio networking with Dante Domain Manager support and AES67 for compatibility with other network audio devices. Routing is configured with Dante Controller software, which assigns outputs from Dante-enabled devices such as an Extron DMP Plus processor to the amplifier inputs.

Can each channel drive a different speaker type?
Yes. Each of the four channels is independently configured in software for 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70V, or 100V operation, so one amplifier can serve mixed configurations such as high-impedance ceiling zones plus a low-impedance subwoofer.

Does it keep working if mains power fails?
When PoE is applied to the LAN/AT 1 port, the internal DSP, Dante routing, and analog line input and output signals continue to operate even if mains power is lost. The unit can also be configured on PoE alone before installation.

How does it differ from the XPA U 2008 FX?
The NetPA U 2004 FX adds Dante networking and onboard DSP across four channels, while the XPA U 2008 FX provides eight analog-input configurable channels for larger non-networked systems.

How do I integrate it with a control system?
The amplifier integrates over IP or RS-232 for control and status monitoring, and its two digital input and two digital output ports can respond to external triggers such as preset recall.

What warranty is included?
The amplifier carries a 3-year parts and labor warranty, and the internal Extron Everlast power supply is covered for 7 years parts and labor. Contact Creation Networks for design assistance across the Extron lineup.
