What is the Extron 100-462-01 captive screw connector?
The Extron 100-462-01 is a 10-pack of 5.0 mm, 4-pole black captive screw connectors with no tail, made as factory replacement plugs for Extron equipment. Each connector uses a 5.0 mm pitch and handles a four-conductor circuit such as two channels of amplified speaker output, or combined power and control wiring. The compact no-tail body suits rear panels where ports sit close together and cable dressing is handled elsewhere in the rack. Integrators keep the 100-462-01 on hand as spare stock for commercial AV installations and field service calls.
What does the Extron 100-462-01 do?
The 100-462-01 gives an installer a removable, screw-clamped termination for 4-conductor wiring on Extron products. Extron specifies its captive screw connectors for power, balanced or unbalanced line-level audio, IR or serial control, and amplified speaker output. Wires are stripped, inserted into the terminal, and clamped by a captive screw that stays in the housing, so there are no loose screws to drop inside a credenza, rack, or ceiling space.
