Product Overview

The Dolby 16-channel multichannel amplifier (DMA16302) is a high-density cinema multichannel power amplifier built for movie theater auditoriums and screening rooms that run 5.1, 7.1, or Dolby Atmos speaker layouts. A single 4U unit consolidates the amplification of up to 16 stereo amplifiers, reducing the equipment count in your projection booth or amplifier rack. This Class D cinema amplifier ships with the CAT1416 analog input module for direct integration with existing cinema processors. It is part of the Dolby Professional collection at Creation Networks.

Product Description

The DMA16302 is a 16-channel rack-mount cinema amplifier that uses an advanced high-density Class D design to replace up to 16 conventional stereo amplifiers in a single 4U chassis. It delivers 600 W per channel at 2 ohm and 4 ohm, 300 W per channel at 8 ohm, and 1,100 W in two-channel bridged mode at 8 ohm and 4 ohm, giving integrators headroom for surround arrays and high-output screen channels. The included CAT1416 analog-to-digital converter provides eight balanced analog audio input channels, allowing direct connection to legacy and current 5.1/7.1 cinema sound processors. The amplifier also supports digital audio over two Dolby Atmos Connect Ethernet ports, so the same unit serves both established and immersive installations. Output is configurable as 8, 12, or 16 terminal-block channels to match the speaker count of a given auditorium. A custom-built power supply provides redundancy, power sharing, operational monitoring, and fault detection, and the unit automatically detects maximum and net power and adjusts channel gains based on power supply, load, and fault conditions. Web-based control, SNMP monitoring, and front-panel status LEDs make this a practical choice for multi-screen cinema complexes where remote management matters. As a 16-channel theater amplifier it suits single auditoriums and screening rooms, while larger venues can scale up with the 24-channel DMA24302 or the 32-channel DMA32301. Key Features

  • High-Density Class D Design — A single 4U unit replaces up to 16 stereo amplifiers, cutting the amount of hardware you install, power, and maintain in the amplifier rack.
  • 16 Amplified Channels — The DMA16302 provides 16 channels of amplification configurable as 8, 12, or 16 terminal-block outputs to match each auditorium's speaker count.
  • High Power Output — Each channel delivers 600 W at 2 ohm and 4 ohm and 300 W at 8 ohm, with 1,100 W available in two-channel bridged mode at 8 ohm and 4 ohm for demanding screen and subwoofer channels.
  • CAT1416 Analog Input Module — The included analog-to-digital converter supplies eight balanced analog input channels for direct integration with legacy and current 5.1/7.1 cinema processors.
  • Dolby Atmos Connect Support — Two dedicated Ethernet ports carry digital audio over Dolby Atmos Connect so the amplifier works in immersive as well as conventional cinema installations.
  • Redundant Power Supply — The custom-built power supply includes built-in redundancy, power sharing, operational monitoring, and fault detection to keep auditoriums running reliably.
  • Adaptive Power Management — The unit automatically detects maximum and net power availability and adjusts channel gains based on power supply, load, and fault conditions.
  • Web and SNMP Management — A web-based user interface, SNMP monitoring, front-panel status and signal-presence LEDs, and a front-panel USB 2.0 maintenance port allow control from anywhere on the theater network.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cinema processors is the DMA16302 compatible with?

The DMA16302 includes the CAT1416 module with eight balanced analog input channels for direct integration with 5.1/7.1 cinema processors, and it pairs well with the Dolby CP950 processor. It also accepts digital audio over Dolby Atmos Connect for immersive installations.

How is the amplifier installed in a rack?

The unit is a 4U rack-mount chassis measuring 19 in wide by 7 in high by 22 in deep and weighing 60 lb. Plan for adequate rack support and airflow, and keep the operating environment within the 0 to 40 deg C range.

How does it integrate into an existing AV system?

For analog 5.1/7.1 systems, the CAT1416 analog input module connects directly to the processor's outputs. For immersive audio, two Ethernet ports carry digital audio over Dolby Atmos Connect, so the same amplifier serves both legacy and Dolby Atmos integration paths.

What are the power requirements?

The amplifier operates from 100 to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz on a 20 A service through an IEC 320-C20 inlet (20 A max). The custom power supply is engineered to run at full load without tripping the AC mains breaker.

Can the amplifier be monitored remotely?

Yes. It provides a web-based user interface and SNMP for monitoring and control from anywhere on the theater network, along with front-panel status and signal-presence LEDs and a front-panel USB 2.0 maintenance port.

What is the warranty and lead time?

The manufacturer warranty applies. This product is available by quote; contact Creation Networks for current warranty terms, support options, and lead time, and see our theater and auditorium AV solutions for design assistance.
