Product Overview

The Cisco Ceiling Microphone Pro, Carbon Black (CS-MIC-CLGPRO-C) is a ceiling-mounted beamforming microphone for large conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms and auditoriums. A 64-element array forms eight auto-adaptive beams that track multiple active talkers in parallel while rejecting background noise, and the unit connects over a single Ethernet cable carrying both audio over IP and PoE power. The Carbon Black finish is the one to specify where ceilings, tile or exposed structure are dark and a white panel would read as a visible box.

Product Description

Table microphones and floor boxes dictate how a room can be furnished, and they are the first thing to break when the furniture moves. Pulling pickup up into the ceiling removes that constraint, which is why beamforming ceiling microphones are the practical answer in divisible and multipurpose rooms. Coverage is 360 degrees out to a 3.5 m (11.5 ft) radius under optimal acoustic conditions, so one unit suits a room roughly 7 m across. Larger rooms, L-shaped layouts, high ceilings and hard reflective surfaces need more, and up to eight units are supported per room depending on the host device. Lay coverage out against the actual seating plan rather than the room's square footage.

Installation is a single RJ45 run per microphone. The panel draws PoE Class 2 power, 3.5 W average and 4.5 W maximum, and returns AES-128 encrypted audio over IP on that same cable, which removes the analog home runs, the local power supply and the outboard DSP that a conference room ceiling microphone would otherwise require. Budget the PoE per unit on the switch that feeds the room, and specify plenum-rated (CMP) Ethernet cable wherever a run crosses a plenum ceiling. The host Cisco device discovers and configures the microphone on RoomOS 11.24 or later, so there is no separate commissioning step and no DSP configuration file to maintain over the life of the room.

The panel measures 42 x 42 cm (16.5 x 16.5 in) and stands 4.8 cm (2 in) high at 2.54 kg (5.6 lb), so it is light enough to suspend on wires but still needs the ceiling detail confirmed before the mount is ordered. Mounting uses a 100 x 100 VESA pattern, with a wire hanging kit, a ceiling bracket and a drop ceiling grid kit ordered separately to match the ceiling actually being built. A multi-color LED reports mute state and configuration status at a glance from the floor, which matters in rooms where the microphone sits several metres overhead. Choose Carbon Black where the ceiling is dark tile, painted deck or exposed structure and a white panel would read as a visible box.

Key Features

  • 64-Element Array, 8 Adaptive Beams — Eight beams focus on and dynamically capture multiple active speakers at once, rather than steering a single beam between them.
  • 360-Degree Coverage to a 3.5 m Radius — Pickup extends to a 3.5 m / 11.5 ft radius under optimal acoustic conditions.
  • Single-Cable Installation — One RJ45 Ethernet run carries audio over IP and PoE Class 2 power, with no analog home runs and no separate power supply.
  • Encrypted Audio — Audio is AES-128 encrypted across the network.
  • Scales to Eight Units — Up to 8 microphones are supported per room via a PoE switch, depending on the host video device.
  • Mute and Status at a Glance — A multi-color LED in red, green and white shows mute state and configuration status from the floor.
  • Flexible Mounting — A 100 x 100 VESA pattern accepts wire hanging, ceiling bracket and drop ceiling grid kits, each available separately.
  • Zero-Touch Setup — The host Cisco device discovers and configures the microphone rather than commissioning it as a separate DSP.

Typical Applications

  • Large conference rooms and boardrooms where table microphones are unwanted
  • Rooms with dark ceilings, exposed structure or black acoustic tile
  • Training rooms and all-hands spaces needing wide, even pickup
  • Divisible and multipurpose rooms with flexible seating
  • Government and higher education spaces specifying ceiling-mounted audio

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between CS-MIC-CLGPRO-C and CS-MIC-CLGPRO?
Finish only. This is the Carbon Black version; CS-MIC-CLGPRO is Arctic White. Hardware, coverage and capability are identical. Choose the finish that disappears into the ceiling you actually have.
How many units does a room need?
One unit covers a 3.5 m (11.5 ft) radius under optimal acoustic conditions, so a single microphone suits a room roughly 7 m across. Larger rooms, L-shaped rooms and rooms with high ceilings or hard reflective surfaces need more. Up to eight units are supported per room depending on the host video device. Coverage should be laid out against the actual seating plan rather than the room's square footage.
Does it need a separate DSP or power supply?
No. It is powered by PoE Class 2 and carries audio over IP on the same RJ45 Ethernet run, drawing 3.5 W on average and 4.5 W maximum. The host Cisco device handles configuration. Plenum-rated (CMP) Ethernet cable is recommended where the run passes through a plenum ceiling.
Which mounting kit do I need?
The microphone has a 100 x 100 VESA pattern, and the mount is chosen to match the ceiling. Cisco offers a wire hanging kit (CS-MIC-CLGP-WHK), a ceiling bracket (CS-MIC-CLGP-CBK), and a drop ceiling grid kit (CS-MIC-CLGP-DMK). All are sold separately.
Which Cisco systems does it work with?
Room Bar, Room Bar Pro, Room Kit EQ, Room Kit EQX, Room Kit Pro, and Board Pro 55/75 including G2, running Cisco RoomOS 11.24 or later. Confirm the host device's software version before ordering, and see the Cisco video conferencing range for the room systems this microphone reports to.
Is SmartNet available?
Yes. Cisco SMARTnet coverage is available through Creation Networks.
