What is the AUDAC SMA500 power amplifier?
The AUDAC SMA500 is a dual-channel Class-D power amplifier from AUDAC's WaveDynamics series, rated 2 x 500 W at 4 Ω, 2 x 300 W at 8 Ω, or 1 x 1000 W bridged into 8 Ω. It packs built-in WaveDynamics DSP loudspeaker management into a 2U 19-inch chassis and accepts an optional Dante/AES67 card. It is built to drive low-impedance installed loudspeakers in gyms, houses of worship, event venues, hotels and corporate spaces.
How does the AUDAC SMA500 work?
Each channel takes a balanced line feed on XLR or 3-pin terminal block, with link-through outputs for sending the same source to more amplifiers. The WaveDynamics DSP applies loudspeaker presets, EQ, crossovers and a configurable limiter before the Class-D output stage. Setup runs from the front-panel 2.5-inch LCD, and presets can be loaded from USB. AUDAC publishes a library of presets for its own speakers and set solutions, so an AUDAC system can be tuned by loading a file instead of measuring from scratch.
Outputs are on Speakon-compatible and terminal block connectors. Pairs of channels can be bridged for 1000 W into a single 8 Ω speaker, which is how a dual amp drives one high-power subwoofer. The switching power supply runs on 115–240 V AC, each channel has its own auto-standby, and cooling is by a temperature-controlled fan. RS232 control and TouchLink compatibility allow integration with control systems, and installing the ANI44XT card puts the amplifier on a Dante network.
This is a low-impedance amplifier. It is the right choice for full-range speakers such as the VEXO112 and subwoofers such as the BASSO115. For 70V/100V distributed lines, use the AUDAC PMQ480 instead. Compare the series:

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the AUDAC SMA500 drive 70V or 100V speakers?
No. It is a low-impedance (4–8 Ω) amplifier. For distributed 70V/100V lines, use the AUDAC PMQ480.
Can I add Dante to the AUDAC SMA500?
Yes. Install the ANI44XT card in the expansion port to send and receive audio over Dante/AES67.
How many speakers can the AUDAC SMA500 drive?
One 8 Ω speaker per channel, or two in parallel at 4 Ω, up to 2 channels. Bridged, connect only one 8 Ω speaker per bridged pair. AUDAC publishes speaker-to-amp matching tables for VEXO, KYRA, ARCHI and BASSO models.
Does it include loudspeaker presets?
Yes. AUDAC provides WaveDynamics presets for its loudspeakers and set solutions, loaded through USB.
Can it be controlled by a control system?
Yes. It offers RS232 control and is TouchLink compatible, so it can be integrated with AUDAC Touch and third-party control systems.
Will it work with non-AUDAC speakers?
Yes. Any passive speaker within its impedance and power rating works; you set EQ and limits manually instead of loading an AUDAC preset. See the full AUDAC lineup for matching speakers and accessories.
Can Creation Networks design and install the system?
Yes. Our CTS-D engineers size amplification, load and tune DSP presets, and install and support AUDAC systems nationwide. Call (888) 230-3661 or email sales@creationnetworks.net.
