Product Overview

The Adder XDIP-US is an HDMI and USB KVM extender over IP that lets operators control critical computers from a remote workstation across a standard Gigabit Ethernet network. Shipped with a 12V mains power adapter and also PoE-capable (IEEE 802.3af), this KVM-over-IP extender node can be deployed as a point-to-point extender, a distributed KVM switch, or a scalable IP KVM matrix node. With low-latency 1920x1200 at 60Hz video, bi-directional analog audio, and true USB HID emulation, the XDIP delivers an at-the-PC experience for small to medium business IT environments. It is a practical choice for teams searching for an HDMI KVM extender over CATx that can grow into a full KVM matrix without proprietary cabling.

Product Description

Each ADDERLink XDIP unit is identical hardware that can be configured as a transmitter (computer side) or receiver (console side), so a single SKU covers both ends of the link and units can be re-purposed as the installation evolves. Deployed over CAT5e or better cabling with up to 100m (328ft) between the unit and the network switch, the XDIP rides a standard 1GbE network rather than dedicated point-to-point runs, which keeps structured cabling simple for integrators.

In matrix mode, each receiver can access up to 16 sources and each transmitter can feed up to 256 receivers, enabling video distribution and shared-server workflows on the same hardware. A RESTful API over HTTPS allows third-party control systems, including Elgato Stream Deck-style controllers, to drive channel switching, making the XDIP straightforward to integrate into room control processors common in commercial AV. Intelligent EDID management passes the true characteristics of the remote display back to the source computer, and units arrive in a zero-configuration state with a guided setup wizard, so no drivers or software are required.

Local feed-through video and USB ports allow a console to remain at the source computer, and a local computer can also be connected at the user station. The XDIP-US is the version supplied with a PSU and IEC country-specific cable; for installations powering nodes directly from a PoE switch, see the Adder XDIP-POE (PoE-powered, no PSU), and for segregated or redundant-power installs see the Adder XDIP-RED with VSC48 red power cable. Key Features

  • Configurable Transmitter or Receiver — Every XDIP unit is identical and can be set as TX or RX, simplifying sparing and letting the system be reconfigured as requirements change.
  • 1920x1200 at 60Hz Video — Low-latency 60Hz video compression over a standard Gigabit LAN delivers a responsive, at-the-PC control experience.
  • Extender, Switch, or Matrix Modes — Operate as a simple HDMI USB extender over IP, a distributed KVM switch, or an IP KVM matrix with up to 16 sources per receiver and 256 receivers per transmitter.
  • Dual Power Options — Runs from the included 12V PSU or PoE (IEEE 802.3af), allowing redundant-power strategies via PoE switches.
  • RESTful API Control — HTTPS API enables switching from third-party control systems and programmable controllers.
  • Bi-Directional Analog Audio — 16-bit, 48kHz stereo audio passes both directions, with headphone support (16 to 32 Ohms).
  • Intelligent EDID Management — True monitor EDID is passed back to the source, or a fixed EDID can be specified for consistent output.
  • Local Feed-Through Ports — Video and USB feed-through supports a local console at the computer and a local PC at the user station.
  • Zero-Config Deployment — Plug-and-play out of the box with a setup wizard; no drivers or host software required.

Typical Applications

  • Boardroom — locate noisy PCs away from the table while retaining full keyboard, video, and mouse control.
  • Conference room — extend presentation sources over existing structured cabling.
  • Commercial meeting space — distribute one source to multiple displays in matrix mode.
  • Government space — keep computing hardware in secured rooms with remote console access.
  • Broadcast studio — control production PCs from the gallery with low-latency video.
  • Training room — share instructor sources to learner stations over the LAN.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need two XDIP units for a point-to-point extension?
Yes. One unit is configured as the transmitter at the computer and one as the receiver at the console. Because all XDIP hardware is identical, you can order two XDIP-US units and assign roles during setup.

Can the XDIP-US run on PoE even though it ships with a PSU?
Yes. The hardware supports IEEE 802.3af PoE, so you can power it from a compatible PoE switch and keep the included PSU as a backup or for locations without PoE.

Does the XDIP support 4K or HDCP-protected content?
No. Per the manufacturer specification, maximum resolution is 1920x1200 at 60Hz and HDCP/CEC are not supported. It is intended for computer KVM extension, not protected media playback.

How do I integrate XDIP switching with a room control system?
The XDIP exposes a RESTful API over HTTPS. Receiver endpoints can be commanded by third-party controllers, allowing source switching from touch panels or programmable keypads.

What network is required?
A standard Gigabit Ethernet network with CAT5e or better cabling. Each link supports up to 100m to the switch; 10/100 networks are not supported.

What is the difference between XDIP-US, XDIP-POE, and XDIP-RED?
All use the same XDIP hardware. XDIP-US includes a 12V PSU and US power cable, XDIP-POE ships without a PSU for PoE-powered installs, and XDIP-RED includes a VSC48 power cable for connection to a redundant power supply.

Is support available after purchase?
Yes. Creation Networks provides pre- and post-sale assistance on Adder KVM systems, and Adder offers firmware updates and enhanced warranty options for the XDIP family.
