TOA commercial loudspeakers — ceiling and surface-mount models, horn and paging speakers, column and array speakers, weather-resistant outdoor units, plus the brackets, pole bands and back boxes that mount them.

70V distribution is the default

Most TOA loudspeakers are specified for 70V or 100V constant-voltage distribution, which is what makes large paging and background music systems practical — many speakers on one amplifier, over long cable runs, with each tapped to the wattage its area needs.

Set taps from the coverage requirement, not the speaker's maximum. Over-tapping wastes amplifier headroom and produces uneven levels between zones; under-tapping leaves an area inaudible during a page, which in an emergency is a compliance problem rather than an inconvenience.

Matching speaker to space

Ceiling speakers suit finished interiors with reasonable ceiling heights. Horn speakers cut through noise and weather, which is why they turn up in warehouses, yards, transit platforms and stadium concourses. Column and array speakers suit reverberant spaces — sanctuaries, atria, gymnasiums — where a conventional speaker produces noise rather than intelligible speech.

Intelligibility is the measure that matters in paging and evacuation, not output. A loud system in a reverberant room can still be unintelligible, and that is what an inspector measures.

Mounting

Brackets, swivel mounts, pole bands and back boxes are model-specific and ordered separately. Surface-mount back boxes are required where there is no plenum to recess into.

Creation Networks models coverage and intelligibility against the room before specifying, and handles installation and commissioning. Call 888-230-3661 or email sales@creationnetworks.net.
