Product Overview
The Williams AV TGS PRO 738 is a multi-channel FM tour guide system that lets tour participants — including those with hearing difficulties — listen directly to the guide and control their own volume. It pairs a PPA T46 body-pack FM transmitter with ten PPA R38N receivers that switch among 17 wideband channels through a built-in OLED screen, making it the right assistive listening package for venues running multiple concurrent tour groups. The system requires no installation, is designed to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility requirements, and ships complete with a headset microphone, batteries, and a hard carry case.
Product Description
Operating on the 72–76 MHz auditory assistance band, the TGS PRO 738 gives both transmitter and receivers access to 17 preset wideband channels. Unlike single-channel systems, the PPA R38N receiver changes channels through an on-screen menu on its 1-inch OLED display, so staff can reassign receivers between tour groups in seconds and lock the channel to prevent accidental changes. Each receiver delivers 200 Hz – 15 kHz audio response with a 65 dB minimum signal-to-noise ratio and runs up to 50 hours on two AA alkaline batteries or up to 32 hours on NiMH rechargeables.
The PPA T46 transmitter provides an OLED status display, a 3.5 mm microphone input, and a 2.5 mm auxiliary input for broadcasting any line-level audio source. A dual-channel preset mode stores two complete transmit configurations — channel, master volume, aux level — for fast changeovers, and selectable 2:1 audio compression improves speech intelligibility in noisy spaces. The microphone cord doubles as the transmit antenna, and range extends to approximately 150 ft (45 m).
With multiple transmitters on different channels, a facility can run several simultaneous tours or multi-language presentations from the same receiver pool. Belt clips support hands-free operation; earphones, headphones, and neckloops are sold separately. The system is FCC-approved for U.S. operation, and FCC rules limit use of this equipment to auditory assistance.
If a single fixed channel is sufficient, the TGS PRO 737 single-channel system offers a lower-cost alternative — or browse the full Williams AV assistive listening collection at Creation Networks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the TGS PRO 738 and the TGS PRO 737?
Both use the PPA T46 transmitter, but the 738 includes PPA R38N receivers that switch among 17 channels via an OLED menu, while the 737 uses single-channel PPA R37 receivers tuned with a seek button. Choose the 738 when you run multiple concurrent groups or multi-language tours.
Does the system include earphones?
No. Earphones, headphones, and neckloops are sold separately so each facility can standardize on its preferred listening accessory, including telecoil-compatible neckloops for hearing aid users.
Does this satisfy ADA assistive listening requirements?
The system is designed to meet ADA accessibility requirements by letting participants with hearing difficulties listen directly to the guide with individual volume control. Verify receiver counts and neckloop provisions against the requirements for your venue.
Can multiple tour groups operate at once?
Yes. With additional PPA T46 transmitters set to different channels, the 17-channel receivers can be assigned per group, supporting several simultaneous tours in one facility.
Can it be used outside the United States?
The system is FCC-approved for U.S. operation on the 72–76 MHz band and cannot be used in all countries. Check your government's radio regulations for 72–76 MHz operation before deploying internationally.
Are rechargeable batteries supported?
Yes. Both transmitter and receivers accept AA NiMH batteries and include drop-in charger contacts compatible with Williams Sound CHG 3502 and CHG 3512 chargers.
What warranty covers the system?
The transmitter and receivers carry a Lifetime PLUS Limited Warranty; accessories such as the microphone are covered for 90 days.
