Product Overview

The Williams AV DWS TGS 20 400 ALK is a wireless tour guide system for one guide and up to 20 listeners, built on the Digi-Wave 400 digital spread-spectrum platform. It pairs a DLT 400 transceiver with 20 alkaline-powered DLR 400 ALK receivers, making it a practical tour guide audio package for facilities that prefer field-replaceable AA batteries over charging stations. Operating license-free on the 2.4 GHz band with frequency hopping, the system deploys with no installation, base station, or rack-mount equipment. Everything ships in a CCS 056 26 hard carry case for transport between venues.

Product Description

The Digi-Wave 400 Series is a digital spread-spectrum (DSS), simultaneous two-way wireless communication system. Its frequency-hopping algorithm avoids interference from Wi-Fi and other 2.4 GHz devices and provides a secure transmission path, with optional 87+128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock. The guide speaks through the DLT 400 transceiver using its built-in microphone or the included MIC 144 headset microphone, and participants listen on DLR 400 ALK receivers fitted with EAR 022 surround earphones.

The ALK configuration is the right choice when charging infrastructure is impractical: each DLR 400 ALK runs up to 30 hours on two AAA alkaline batteries, so spare batteries in a pocket keep a tour program running all day with zero charger downtime. An LCD on each receiver shows battery level, signal strength, and group/channel number for fast troubleshooting in the field. Operating range reaches up to 900 ft (274 m) depending on conditions.

Beyond one-way tours, the same hardware supports two-way intercom with up to six simultaneous talkers and language interpretation with one floor language plus up to 14 translated languages, covering plant tours, museum and campus programs, courtrooms, and multilingual training. The system scales by simply adding receivers — the listener count is unlimited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose the ALK version over the rechargeable RCH version?

The ALK receivers run on standard AAA alkaline batteries with up to 30 hours of life, so there is no charging station to power, transport, or schedule around. It suits outdoor programs, rental fleets, and venues without convenient power.

Does this system require an FCC license?

No. The Digi-Wave 400 operates license-free on the 2.4 GHz ISM band using digital spread-spectrum frequency hopping, with no frequency coordination required.

Can I add more listeners later?

Yes. The platform supports an unlimited number of listen-only receivers; add DLR 400 ALK or DLR 400 RCH units as your group sizes grow.

Will it interfere with our facility Wi-Fi?

The system uses frequency-hopping spread spectrum across 2402–2476 MHz, an approach designed to coexist with Wi-Fi and other 2.4 GHz devices while avoiding interference to the tour audio.

Can the system handle language interpretation?

Yes. In interpretation mode it supports one floor language plus up to 14 translated languages, making it usable for multilingual tours, courtrooms, and conferences.

Is the audio secure?

Optional 87+128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock are available for tours of sensitive facilities and confidential briefings.

What warranty applies?

Williams AV provides a 2-year warranty against component failure and manufacturing defects on the transceiver and receivers.
