Product Overview
The Williams AV DWS TGS 23 400 RCH is a rechargeable wireless tour guide system built on the Digi-Wave 400 digital spread-spectrum platform, supporting one guide and up to 23 listeners out of the box. It is a complete, fully portable tour guide audio package for facility tours, plant walkthroughs, and group listening applications where no installed infrastructure is available. The system pairs a DLT 400 transceiver with 23 DLR 400 RCH rechargeable receivers, operating on the license-free 2.4 GHz band with frequency-hopping to avoid interference. For AV integrators and facilities teams, it deploys in minutes with no base station, rack-mount components, or commissioning required.
Product Description
The Digi-Wave 400 Series is a digital spread-spectrum (DSS), simultaneous two-way wireless communication system. Its frequency-hopping algorithm avoids interference from Wi-Fi and other 2.4 GHz devices and provides a secure transmission path, with optional 87+128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock for environments where confidentiality matters. The guide transmits through the DLT 400 body-pack transceiver — using either its built-in microphone or the included MIC 144 headset microphone — while participants listen on DLR 400 RCH receivers with EAR 022 surround earphones.
Beyond one-way guided tours, the same hardware supports two-way intercom operation with up to six simultaneous talkers and an unlimited number of listeners, and it functions as a language interpretation system supporting one floor language plus up to 14 translated languages. That flexibility makes it practical for manufacturing tours, museum and campus tours, courtroom interpretation, and staff communication in noisy environments. Coverage extends up to 900 ft (274 m) depending on site conditions.
This RCH configuration is the rechargeable package: receivers and the transceiver use internal lithium polymer batteries with smart charging, and two included CHG 412 PRO 12-bay drop-in chargers (in carry cases) recharge the full complement of units in about five hours — no battery swaps or consumable battery budget. The DLR 400 RCH delivers up to 32 hours of listening per charge; the DLT 400 provides up to 16 hours of talk time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the DWS TGS 23 400 RCH require an FCC license or frequency coordination?
No. The system operates on the license-free 2.4 GHz ISM band using digital spread-spectrum frequency hopping, so no licensing, frequency coordination, or RF site survey is required for typical deployments.
Can I expand the system beyond 23 listeners?
Yes. The Digi-Wave 400 platform supports an unlimited number of listen-only receivers. Add DLR 400 RCH or DLR 400 ALK receivers as group sizes grow; they pair with the included DLT 400 transceiver.
Is this system compatible with older Digi-Wave 300 Series equipment?
Partially. The DLT 400 and DLR 400 RCH support 87-bit encryption for backward compatibility with DLT 300 devices, with some feature limitations. For full functionality, deploy 400 Series units throughout.
How is the audio secured for confidential tours or government facilities?
The system offers optional 87+128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a lock for device settings, making it suitable for facility tours and meetings where transmission privacy is required.
How do the rechargeable units charge between tours?
Two CHG 412 PRO 12-bay drop-in chargers are included with carry cases. Receivers and the transceiver charge in approximately five hours; units can also charge individually over USB-C.
Can the system be used for language interpretation as well as tours?
Yes. In interpretation mode the platform supports one floor language plus up to 14 translated languages, so the same kit covers multilingual conferences, courtrooms, and training sessions.
What warranty applies?
Williams AV covers the system with a 2-year warranty against component failure and manufacturing defects, with 6 months on internal batteries and 90 days on cables and power supplies.
