Product Overview

The Williams AV DWS INT 5 400 ALK is a multilingual conference interpretation system that serves fifty listeners across four interpreted languages plus the floor channel. Part of the Digi-Wave 400 Series, it pairs five DLT 400 digital transceivers with fifty AAA-powered DLR 400 ALK receivers — a wireless interpretation package that event producers and facility AV teams can deploy anywhere without chargers for the audience fleet, base stations, or licensed frequencies. Encrypted 2.4 GHz digital transmission keeps every channel private and intelligible.

Product Description

Digi-Wave 400 is a digital spread-spectrum (DSS), simultaneous two-way wireless platform that improves listening by reducing background noise and compensating for room acoustics and distance from the talker. In interpretation mode, the system carries one floor language and up to 14 translated languages; this package's five transceivers cover four languages plus floor, with room to expand. Interpreters work from compact DLT 400 transceivers with MIC 158 headset microphones, while delegates choose their language on DLR 400 ALK receivers fitted with EAR 022 surround earphones.

How the Digi-Wave 400 conference interpretation system works

The alkaline receiver fleet is the operational advantage of this configuration: each DLR 400 ALK runs up to 30 hours on two AAA cells, and fifty BAT 010-2 batteries ship in the box. For touring corporate events, multi-site training programs, and rental inventories, battery swaps remove the overnight charging dependency entirely. Only the five rechargeable transceivers require the included CHG 412 12-bay charger.

Frequency-hopping in the license-free 2.4 GHz ISM band avoids RF interference, and optional 87+128-bit encryption with a secure key code satisfies confidentiality requirements in judicial and government settings. Beyond interpretation, the same hardware operates as a full-duplex wireless intercom (up to six simultaneous talkers) or a one-way guided-tour system. Explore companion assistive listening products in the Williams AV collection, or pair this kit with the IC-2 interpreter control console for booth-based relay interpretation.

Key Features

  • 50-Listener Capacity Out of the Box — Fifty DLR 400 ALK receivers with earphones serve a full conference audience, and listener count can grow without limit.
  • No Charging Logistics for Receivers — AAA alkaline power means staff swap batteries in seconds, ideal for rental fleets and back-to-back event schedules.
  • Up to 14 Language Channels — The platform scales from this four-language kit to fourteen translated languages plus floor by adding transceivers.
  • Full-Duplex Digital Wireless — Two-way operation supports relay interpretation, team intercom, and audience-participation tours from the same hardware.
  • Encrypted 2.4 GHz Transmission — Frequency hopping plus optional 87+128-bit encryption protects confidential sessions without FCC licensing.
  • Glass and Wall Penetration — The 2.4 GHz signal transmits through glass and curtain walls, supporting interpreter booths and adjacent viewing rooms.
  • Clear Speech Reproduction — 100–11,200 Hz response with 74 dB SNR on receivers preserves consonant detail that interpretation listeners depend on.
  • Travel-Ready Packaging — The CCS 054 wheeled carry case and silicone unit skins protect the investment between venues.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do delegates select their language?

Each DLR 400 ALK receiver has an LCD showing the group/channel number; listeners simply dial to the channel assigned to their language. Channel assignments stay consistent across the event.

Can interpreters hear the floor and each other for relay interpretation?

Yes. The DLT 400 is a full-duplex transceiver, so interpreters monitor the floor or another interpreter's output while transmitting — relay interpretation through a pivot language is fully supported, and adding an IC-2 console formalizes booth workflows.

What happens if a receiver battery dies mid-session?

Swap in two fresh AAA cells in seconds — no proprietary packs or charging docks needed for receivers. The included 50 BAT 010-2 batteries cover initial deployment.

Is FCC licensing or frequency coordination required at event venues?

No. Operation in the 2.4 GHz ISM band is license-free, and the frequency-hopping algorithm automatically avoids interference from venue Wi-Fi and other wireless systems.

Can this kit serve assistive listening and ADA needs too?

The receiver's 3.5 mm output supports headphones, earphones, or a neckloop for telecoil hearing aid users, allowing the system to double as personal listening support during non-interpreted sessions. Confirm your venue's specific ADA compliance requirements with your AV consultant.

How is the system supported after purchase?

Williams AV warrants the system for 2 years against defects, and Creation Networks provides design guidance, accessory sourcing, and ongoing support for commercial deployments.
