Product Overview
The Williams AV DWD 401 Digi-Wave Connect is an audio breakout box that bridges a Digi-Wave 400 wireless system to installed AV equipment over balanced XLR connections. It converts line-level audio to and from a DLT 400 transceiver via USB-C, letting integrators feed a mixing console, DSP, or room sound system into the wireless intercom or interpretation network — and pull Digi-Wave audio back out for recording or reinforcement. A power supply, USB-C cable, and BKT 040 mounting bracket are included for permanent installation.
Product Description
In many Digi-Wave deployments, the wireless system needs to exchange audio with the rest of the AV installation: an interpreter booth feed from the house console, program audio into the interpretation channels, or intercom audio routed to a recording or overflow system. The DWD 401 handles this interface. Its 3-pin female XLR line input accepts audio from a console or DSP output and sends it to a connected DLT 400 transceiver for wireless distribution, while the 3-pin male XLR output delivers received Digi-Wave audio at line level to downstream equipment. The transceiver connects over a single USB 3.1 C cable (included), which carries the adjustable line-level audio path the DLT 400 already provides. The compact chassis — about 5.4 inches tall and under half a pound — mounts with the included BKT 040 bracket, so it installs cleanly behind a lectern, in an interpreter booth, at a rack shelf, or beside a credenza-mounted transceiver. Power comes from the included 5 VDC supply. For AV integrators, the DWD 401 turns a portable wireless system into a fixed part of the signal chain: pair it with the Williams AV DLT 400 transceiver, then distribute audio to DLR 400 RCH receivers for interpretation, assistive listening, or intercom monitoring throughout the facility.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the DWD 401 Digi-Wave Connect actually do?
It converts between balanced XLR line-level audio and the USB-C audio interface on a Digi-Wave DLT 400 transceiver. Audio from a console or DSP can be sent into the wireless system, and received wireless audio can be output to installed equipment.
Which Digi-Wave devices is it compatible with?
The DWD 401 is specified for the DLT 400 transceiver, connecting over the included USB 3.1 C cable. The transceiver then communicates wirelessly with other DLT 400 units and DLR 400 receivers.
Can I use it to feed program audio into an interpretation system?
Yes. A common configuration sends the floor mix from the house console into the DWD 401's XLR input, so interpreters monitoring on Digi-Wave devices hear the program feed and audiences receive interpreted channels wirelessly.
How is it mounted in a permanent installation?
The included BKT 040 mounting bracket secures the breakout box in interpreter booths, behind lecterns, on rack shelves, or near credenza equipment, with the included 5 VDC supply providing power.
Does it record or process audio itself?
No. The DWD 401 is an analog audio interface only — level conversion and connectivity. Mixing, DSP, and recording are handled by the equipment you connect to its XLR input and output.
