Product Overview

The Williams AV DLT 400 is the two-way wireless transceiver at the core of every Digi-Wave 400 system, supporting full-duplex intercom, language interpretation, guided tours, and assistive listening from a single pocket-sized device. It operates license-free in the 2.4 GHz band using digital spread-spectrum transmission with frequency hopping, giving AV integrators a secure, interference-resistant wireless audio link with no FCC licensing or frequency coordination. Add transceivers and receivers as needed to build anything from a two-person intercom to a 14-language interpretation system.

Product Description

Every Digi-Wave 400 deployment starts with at least one DLT 400 transceiver, combined with additional DLT 400 units for talkers or DLR 400 RCH / DLR 400 ALK receivers for listeners. In intercom mode, up to six DLT 400 users speak simultaneously in full duplex while more participants listen — a practical alternative to licensed two-way radio systems for production crews and facilities teams. In interpretation mode, the platform carries one floor language plus up to 14 interpreted languages, making it a common specification for courtrooms, government spaces, and houses of worship with multilingual congregations. The transceiver uses frequency-hopping spread spectrum across 2402–2476 MHz to avoid interference from venue Wi-Fi, and protects audio with 87-bit plus 128-bit encryption and a PIN, with a settings lock to prevent end-user tampering. The internal 1800 mAh lithium polymer battery delivers up to 16 hours of talk time per charge, recharges over USB-C or the CHG 412 drop-in charger, and an auto-sleep mode conserves power when no compatible RF signal is present. An OLED display, internal microphone, 3.5 mm mic input with 63 dB of adjustable gain, and a 3.5 mm TRRS headphone output round out the hardware, while USB-C carries adjustable line-level audio in and out — pair it with the DWD 401 Digi-Wave Connect for balanced XLR integration with consoles and DSPs. The DLT 400 ships with the DW ACC PAC4 charging pack. Find compatible receivers, chargers, and complete pre-configured systems in the Williams AV collection at Creation Networks.

Key Features

  • Full-Duplex Two-Way Audio — Talk and listen simultaneously, with up to six DLT 400 users speaking at once in intercom mode.
  • License-Free 2.4 GHz DSS Operation — Frequency-hopping spread spectrum (2402–2476 MHz) avoids interference and requires no FCC license at any venue.
  • Multi-Mode Operation — One device covers intercom, interpretation with up to 14 language channels, guided tours, and hearing assistance.
  • Encrypted and Lockable — 87-bit plus 128-bit encryption, an encryption PIN, and a settings lock secure both the audio and the device configuration.
  • 16-Hour Rechargeable Battery — The internal 1800 mAh lithium polymer battery with built-in smart charging covers a full event day per five-hour charge.
  • USB-C Line-Level I/O — Adjustable line input and output over USB-C lets the transceiver feed or receive audio from installed AV systems.
  • Flexible Microphone Options — An internal microphone plus a 3.5 mm electret mic input with 63 dB adjustable gain accommodates headsets and lavalier mics.
  • 900-Foot Range — Coverage up to 274 m (environment dependent) handles auditoriums, multi-room facilities, and outdoor tour routes.
  • Backward Compatible — An 87-bit encryption mode interoperates with Digi-Wave 300 Series DLT 300 and DLR 360 devices, with some limitations.

Typical Applications

  • House of worship interpretation and production communication
  • Government space and courtroom interpretation
  • Auditorium and broadcast studio crew intercom
  • Training room and multi-purpose room instruction
  • Conference room and commercial meeting space language support

Frequently Asked Questions

How many DLT 400 transceivers do I need to build a system?

A minimum system is one DLT 400 plus one receiver or a second DLT 400. For intercom, deploy one DLT 400 per talker (up to six simultaneous); for interpretation or tours, use one DLT 400 per presenter or interpreter and DLR 400 receivers for the audience.

Does the DLT 400 require an FCC license?

No. It operates in the license-free 2.4 GHz ISM band using frequency-hopping spread spectrum, so there is no licensing or frequency coordination at any deployment site.

Which receivers work with the DLT 400?

The DLR 400 RCH (rechargeable) and DLR 400 ALK (alkaline) receivers are fully compatible. Legacy DLT 300 and DLR 360 devices interoperate in 87-bit encryption mode with some feature limitations.

Can I connect the DLT 400 to a mixing console or DSP?

Yes. The USB-C port carries adjustable line-level audio in and out, and the DWD 401 Digi-Wave Connect breakout box converts this to balanced 3-pin XLR for standard AV system integration.

How is the DLT 400 charged in larger deployments?

Each unit charges over USB-C using the included DW ACC PAC4, and fleet operations can use the CHG 412 12-bay drop-in charger, which contacts dedicated charging pads on the transceiver.

What warranty does the DLT 400 carry?

Williams AV provides a 2-year warranty against component failure and manufacturing defects, with 6 months of coverage on the internal battery. Firmware updates are available through Williams AV TechBlue support.
