Product Overview

The Visionary Solutions DuetE5-WP-C-BT is a 4K60 4:4:4 AV over IP wall plate encoder that brings USB-C connectivity, HDMI input, and integrated Bluetooth audio to the PacketAV 5-Series platform. Designed for conference room installation where presenters connect laptops over USB-C, it delivers ultra-low-latency video and Dante/AES67 audio over a single PoE-powered Gigabit Ethernet cable. USB 2.0 over IP support also enables KVM extension and USB device routing for video conferencing integration.

Product Description

The DuetE5-WP-C-BT installs in a standard 2-gang US or UK back box — wall, floor box, table box, or lectern — with a 45-degree angled Ethernet connector that maintains proper category cable bend radius in shallow enclosures. Presenters connect through either the HDMI input or the USB-C input, both accepting sources up to 4K60 4:4:4; the USB-C port uses DisplayPort Alt Mode, so source devices must support DP Alt Mode or Thunderbolt. The same USB-C port carries bi-directional USB 2.0 over IP, allowing USB peripherals such as room cameras or touch displays connected at a remote 5-Series decoder to appear on the presenter's laptop — a clean approach to BYOD conferencing in a commercial meeting space. The integrated Bluetooth 5.0 receiver supports A2DP media streaming and Hands-Free Profile smartphone bridging, pushing wireless audio directly into the Dante/AES67 network without separate bridging hardware. Video is encoded with a JPEG2000-based visually lossless codec at approximately 2 ms sub-frame latency, with a full-motion MJPEG substream for preview and monitoring. RS-232 over IP extends serial control to remote devices, and enterprise security includes AES-256 stream encryption, 802.1x, HTTPS, and SSH. The fanless, solid-state design is silent in acoustically sensitive boardrooms and draws 12 W typical over PoE. For HDMI-only rooms, compare the DuetE5-WP-BT or the non-Bluetooth DuetE5-WP.

Key Features

  • USB-C and HDMI Inputs — Both inputs accept sources up to 4K60 4:4:4, letting presenters connect modern laptops with a single USB-C cable (DisplayPort Alt Mode required).
  • USB 2.0 over IP (KVM) — Bi-directional, isochronous USB routing extends webcams, microphones, and control interfaces across the network for video conferencing deployment.
  • Bluetooth 5.0 Audio Bridge — A2DP streaming and HFP smartphone bridging feed wireless audio into the AV stream or Dante/AES67 network.
  • 4K60 4:4:4 Sub-Frame Encoding — Approximately 2 ms latency with full 4:4:4 color sampling keeps live presentation video sharp and in sync.
  • Dante/AES67 Audio Integration — Up to 4 channels of embedding and de-embedding connect room microphones, loudspeakers, and DSP paths over standard IP.
  • Single-Cable PoE Installation — One category cable provides power, video, audio, and control to the wall plate.
  • RS-232 over IP — Bi-directional serial control of remote devices through a rear 4-pin Euroblock with removable connector cover.
  • MJPEG Preview Substream — Full-motion preview feeds for monitoring and control system thumbnails without impacting the main stream.
  • Enterprise Security — AES-256 stream encryption, 802.1x authentication, HTTPS secure API, and SSH for converged AV/IT networks.
  • Fanless, Silent Design — Solid-state convection cooling at 0 dBA suits boardrooms and other acoustically sensitive environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will any laptop work with the USB-C input?
The USB-C input requires a source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode for USB Type-C or Thunderbolt. Most current business laptops qualify, but verify the source device's USB-C video output capability before deployment.

Can I use the HDMI and USB-C inputs in the same room?
Yes. Both inputs are available on the wall plate, giving presenters a choice of connection while the encoder streams the selected source to the network.

How does the USB-over-IP feature help video conferencing?
USB peripherals such as room cameras and microphones connected at a remote 5-Series decoder can be routed back to the presenter's laptop through the wall plate's USB-C port, enabling BYOD soft-codec conferencing without dedicated USB extenders.

What decoders pair with this encoder?
The DuetE5-WP-C-BT is part of the PacketAV 5-Series and streams to 5-Series decoders over any industry-standard Gigabit IP network.

How is it powered and installed?
Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af) over a single category cable. It fits a 2-gang US or UK back box with no modification and mounts into Decora-style wall plates.

How is it controlled in an integrated AV system?
Vision Lite control software, third-party drivers for Crestron, QSC, Symetrix, and RTI, plus a full API for qualified system integrators. RS-232 over IP is also available for serial device control.

What support does Creation Networks provide?
Creation Networks is an authorized commercial AV reseller. We help with AV over IP system design, USB-C BYOD room planning, and endpoint selection before you order.
