Product Overview
The Visionary Solutions PacketAV E4200 is a 4K UHD AV over IP encoder with PoE+ that distributes cinema-quality, ultra-low latency video across standard Gigabit networks. Designed for commercial AV integration, it converts any HDMI or USB-C source into a routable network stream for conference room presentation, digital signage, and enterprise-wide AV distribution. Three local inputs with HDMI loop-through let it double as an in-room presentation switcher, and the unit is upgradeable to Dante/AES67 networked audio with a separately purchased PacketAV module. Pair it with the matching D4200 decoder for end-to-end distribution.
Product Description
The E4200 encodes sources up to 4K60 4:2:0 using Visionary's JPEG2000-based, dynamically optimized compression codec, which analyzes content to preserve fine computer-generated graphics and full-motion video at adjustable bitrates from 50 to 800 Mbps. Two HDMI inputs and one USB-C input (DisplayPort Alt Mode) feed an internal switcher with HDMI loop-through, so a confidence monitor or local display can show any connected source while it streams to the network. Input selection works through auto-switching, a control system, or the embedded web UI — a practical arrangement for boardroom and multi-purpose room AV design.
A single PoE+ network drop carries video, audio, USB, and control, with VLAN tagging available to separate AV traffic on a corporate network. The Ethernet expansion port (PSE) passes connectivity and PoE through to downstream LAN devices or daisy-chained endpoints. Integrators can independently route video, audio, USB, IR, and RS-232 across the system, and USB 2.0 over IP supports KVM extension from any endpoint. Enterprise security — AES-128 stream encryption, 802.1x authentication, HTTPS API, and SSH — aligns the platform with corporate and government IT policy. Mass configuration via CSV export/import in the embedded web page, LLDP, and QoS support streamline large deployments, while Vision Lite software and third-party drivers for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI handle control integration. Rack-mount kits are available for high-density head-end installation in standard 19-inch racks.

Key Features
- 4K UHD over 1GbE — Encodes cinema-quality video for distribution on standard Gigabit networks without fiber or 10G switching.
- Three-Input Local Switcher — Two HDMI inputs plus USB-C with HDMI loop-through support auto-switching or control-system selection.
- USB-C Source Input — Connects laptops, tablets, and mobile devices supporting DisplayPort Alt Mode for BYOD presentation sharing.
- Ultra-Low Latency — Approximately one frame (17 ms @ 1080p60 and 4K60 4:2:0) keeps live AV synchronized in the room.
- Upgradeable to Dante/AES67 — Add the separately purchased PacketAV Dante/AES67 module for networked audio embedding and de-embedding.
- Single PoE+ Network Drop — One CAT5e/6 cable delivers video, audio, USB, control, and power for fast commercial installation.
- Ethernet Expansion Port with PoE Pass-Through — Networks and powers downstream LAN devices or daisy-chained endpoints.
- Independent Signal Routing — Separately matrix video, audio, USB, IR, and RS-232 across the system.
- Enterprise Security — AES-128 stream encryption, 802.1x, HTTPS API, and SSH meet corporate IT requirements.
- Mass Configuration and LLDP — CSV-based bulk setup and automatic endpoint discovery accelerate large rollouts.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which decoder pairs with the E4200?
The D4200 decoder is the direct companion, and the E4200 also interoperates with other Visionary 4-Series decoders such as the DuetD-2.
Is Dante audio included?
The E4200 is upgradeable to Dante/AES67 with a separately purchased PacketAV Dante/AES67 module. If you need Dante out of the box, consider the DuetE-2 encoder.
Can it switch local sources without a control system?
Yes. Auto-switching (input detect) mode selects between the two HDMI inputs and USB-C automatically; control-system and web-browser selection are also supported.
What network hardware do I need?
Standard IGMP-capable Gigabit Ethernet switches and CAT5e/6 cabling. The E4200 deploys on existing enterprise LANs or a dedicated private AV network.
How is the encoder powered?
Via PoE on the main LAN port (standard PoE, 15 W or lower). Supplying PoE+ enables PoE pass-through to devices on the Ethernet expansion port.
Does it integrate with Crestron or Q-SYS?
Yes. Third-party control drivers are available for Crestron, Q-SYS, Symetrix, and RTI, alongside Visionary's Vision Lite control software.
