The Node II ships in a global-band configuration rather than separate US and international hardware, and Teradek states it has been tested with over 100 carriers. In the United States it works on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, and it is Verizon-certified for US business accounts. It is also compatible with the Teradek Data eSIM.

Teradek documents four things to plan for: the SIM needs a data or mobile-hotspot plan (voice-only plans will not work); some countries require the modem's IMEI to be registered on a carrier allowlist first, and carriers in Chile and other South American markets will let an unregistered device run for roughly 30 days before cutting service; the APN may have to be entered manually through the encoder web UI where auto-detection is unsupported; and where a carrier hands out IPv6 only, you enable xlat464 in the Generic MBN profile so the encoder sees an IPv4 connection.

How Bonding Works & How Many Modules You Need

Bonding aggregates several independent internet paths into one logical uplink, so a single stream is split across every connected modem and reassembled at the receiving end. Adding Node II modules does two things at once: it raises total available uplink bandwidth, and it removes single points of failure, because losing one carrier degrades the stream instead of dropping it.

  • Use different carriers. Two SIMs on the same network share the same congested tower and the same outage. Mixing Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile SIMs across modules is what actually buys resilience at a crowded venue.
  • Module count is set by the host. Bond 700 Series backpacks are commonly configured with four Node II modules; smaller encoders take fewer. Check your encoder's documentation or ask us for the supported count on your exact model.
  • Bandwidth headroom. Because bonded throughput fluctuates with cell conditions, field practice is to configure the encoder bitrate well below the sum of the measured uplink speeds, then let the bonding engine absorb the variation.
  • SIMs are not included. Source data-capable SIMs separately, or use the Teradek Data eSIM.

Do I need the USB Type-A or the USB Type-C version?
Match the port on your encoder. This item, part number 10-0028, is the USB Type-A version and is the correct choice for hosts such as Prism Mobile, which uses a USB Type-A port. If your host has USB Type-C, order part number 10-0028-C instead. The modem itself is identical.

Does the Node II work on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile?
Yes. All three US networks are supported, and the Node II is Verizon-certified for US business accounts. Its band list covers B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B25, B26, B30, B41 and B66, which spans the main US LTE deployments including FirstNet Band 14.

Is there a separate US version and international version?
