The Shure R189B is a lobar mini-shotgun condenser cartridge for Shure Microflex gooseneck and overhead microphones, including Microflex Wireless and Microflex Complete models. Its 100-degree pickup area — narrower than supercardioid — provides highly directional capture that rejects ambient noise and reduces feedback risk in conference rooms and presentation spaces with active sound reinforcement systems. The black finish suits standard black Microflex hardware installations.

Product Description

The R189B threads onto all compatible Microflex gooseneck and overhead microphone bodies with a tool-free cartridge swap, making it a practical retrofit option for AV integrators upgrading installed systems from cardioid or supercardioid cartridges to a more directional lobar pattern. The electret condenser element requires phantom power (48–52V DC at 8.0 mA) and delivers a sensitivity of -33 dBV/Pa at 1 kHz across a frequency response of 50–17,000 Hz. CommShield technology provides immunity from cellular RF interference and digital bodypack transmitters, which is particularly relevant in commercial meeting environments where personal devices and wireless systems operate in close proximity to the microphone.
