The Shure R185W-A is a cardioid replacement cartridge for Microflex-series microphones in bright white finish. Its 130-degree pickup angle at -3 dB delivers balanced directional capture with good rear rejection, suitable for conference room goosenecks, boundary microphones, and overhead installations where a broader coverage angle than supercardioid is appropriate. Compatible with MX and WL Microflex models, it is the white counterpart to the R185B.
Product Description
The R185W-A installs via a tool-free threaded cartridge swap on compatible Microflex microphone bodies, making field replacement fast in installed AV systems. The cardioid pickup pattern provides off-axis rejection — particularly from behind the capsule — while maintaining a wider acceptance angle than supercardioid for situations where talker coverage width is a priority. AV integrators and facilities teams specifying white Microflex hardware will find the R185W-A the correct cartridge for maintaining cardioid performance while matching the installed system's finish.
