Product Overview
The Shure R184B is a supercardioid replacement cartridge for Microflex-series microphones in black finish. With a 115-degree pickup angle at -3 dB, it provides focused directional capture and strong rejection of ambient noise and off-axis sound, making it well-suited for conference room podiums, lecterns, and gooseneck applications where room acoustics or background noise are a concern. It is compatible with MX and WL Microflex gooseneck, overhead, boundary, and lavalier models.
Product Description
The R184B replaces the existing cartridge on compatible Microflex microphone bodies using a simple threaded swap with no soldering required. The narrow supercardioid pickup pattern — narrower than cardioid — reduces pickup of ambient room noise, adjacent talker bleed, and reflected sound, which improves intelligibility in rooms with live acoustics or active HVAC systems. For AV integrators and facilities teams managing installed Microflex systems in commercial conference rooms and training spaces, the R184B enables cartridge-level polar pattern changes and service swaps without replacing full microphone assemblies.
