Product Overview
The Shure A15RF is an in-line RF filter that reduces radio-frequency interference — particularly from AM broadcast stations — that bleeds into microphone lines on long cable runs. It connects XLR in to XLR out and passes phantom power, so it can sit in the signal path ahead of condenser microphones without breaking powering. AV integrators add the A15RF where long microphone cabling acts as an antenna and audible RF buzz or breakthrough contaminates the audio in a commercial install.
Product Description
Long balanced microphone runs in large rooms and distributed systems can pick up RF energy from nearby AM transmitters and other sources, which demodulates into audible interference at the preamp. The A15RF attenuates this RF before it reaches sensitive input stages, cleaning up the line without affecting the audio-band signal. Because it provides XLR input and output and passes phantom power, it integrates directly into an existing cable run and remains compatible with phantom-powered condenser microphones. It is a practical fix in auditoriums, houses of worship, broadcast facilities, and large conference spaces where cable lengths are long and RF environments are difficult. The passive design needs no power and can stay permanently installed.
