Product Overview

The Sennheiser SK 6212 is the smallest bodypack transmitter in the Digital 6000 series, purpose-built for theater, broadcast, and live performance applications where concealment and low weight are non-negotiable. Operating in Long Range (LR) mode with the proprietary SeDAC audio codec, the SK 6212 digital bodypack transmitter delivers the same high dynamic range audio found in the Digital 9000 platform. AES 256 encryption secures every transmission, making it a dependable choice for broadcast studios and touring productions that operate in congested RF environments.

Product Description

At 63 x 47 x 20 mm and 112 grams, the SK 6212 is small enough to conceal under tight costume pieces or clip directly to a belt without visible bulk. The metal housing resists moisture and sweat — a practical requirement for dancers, actors, and presenters under stage lighting. Input is via a 3-pin SE (Sennheiser) locking connector, compatible with the full range of Sennheiser lavalier microphones and headset transmitters including the MKE 1, MKE 2, and HSP series.

The SK 6212 operates on an equidistant frequency grid with intermodulation-free channel spacing, which allows engineers to deploy a high channel count within the available UHF spectrum. Link Density (LD) mode with the SePAC codec pushes up to 5 channels per MHz of bandwidth when spectrum is at a premium. Battery life reaches 12 hours continuous operation — long enough to cover multi-show days without mid-show changes. The antenna is field-replaceable, and two detachable belt clips (0° and 90° orientations) are included for costume-specific positioning.

The SK 6212 is the companion transmitter for the EM 6000 and EM 6000 Dante dual-channel receivers. It is not directly compatible with EW-D or Digital 9000 series receivers. Available in A1–A4 (470.200–558.000 MHz) and A5–A8 (550.000–638.000 MHz) frequency bands.

Key Features

  • Ultra-compact form factor — 63 x 47 x 20 mm body fits discreetly under stage costumes and is as small as a standard matchbox.
  • Lightweight metal housing — 112 g with moisture and sweat resistance for physically demanding performance environments.
  • LR mode with SeDAC audio codec — Long Range mode delivers high dynamic range digital audio, shared with the Digital 9000 platform, at 25 mW RF output power.
  • AES 256 encryption — Full AES 256-bit encryption on every RF transmission for broadcast and corporate security requirements.
  • 12-hour battery life — Designed for continuous 12-hour operation to cover back-to-back performances and multi-show days.
  • 3-pin SE locking audio input — Compatible with Sennheiser's full lavalier and headset microphone catalog including MKE 1, MKE 2, and HSP series.
  • Equidistant frequency grid — Intermodulation-free channel spacing for efficient spectrum use in dense multi-channel deployments.
  • LD mode with SePAC codec — Up to 5 channels per MHz bandwidth for spectrum-constrained broadcast and live events.
  • Field-replaceable antenna and battery — Both are user-serviceable without tools, reducing downtime between shows.
  • Dual belt clip orientations — Included 0° and 90° clips accommodate different costume attachment points.
  • Compatible with EM 6000 / EM 6000 Dante receivers — Designed as the transmitter companion to Sennheiser's two-channel Digital 6000 receivers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which receivers is the SK 6212 compatible with?
The SK 6212 is designed for use with the Sennheiser EM 6000 and EM 6000 Dante dual-channel receivers. It is not compatible with EW-D or Digital 9000 series receivers.
Q: What microphones can connect to the SK 6212?
Any Sennheiser microphone or headset with a 3-pin SE locking connector is compatible, including the MKE 1, MKE 2, MKE Essential, HSP 2, HSP 4, and other lavalier and headset options in Sennheiser's catalog.
Q: What is the difference between LR mode and LD mode?
LR (Long Range) mode uses the SeDAC codec at 25 mW RF output for maximum transmission range and high dynamic range audio. LD (Link Density) mode uses the SePAC codec to fit up to 5 channels per MHz of bandwidth, which is useful in spectrum-limited environments with many simultaneous channels.
Q: Does the SK 6212 support AES 256 encryption?
Yes. AES 256-bit encryption is built in and can be enabled to secure the RF transmission, which is a requirement for broadcast facilities and corporate productions with confidentiality needs.
Q: How long does the battery last?
Sennheiser rates the SK 6212 for up to 12 hours of continuous operation. Actual runtime depends on the battery type and operating mode selected.
Q: Is the antenna replaceable in the field?
Yes. The antenna is detachable and user-replaceable without tools, which is practical for touring and rental applications where equipment takes physical wear.
Q: What frequency bands are available for the SK 6212?
The SK 6212 is available in A1–A4 (470.200–558.000 MHz) and A5–A8 (550.000–638.000 MHz) variants. Frequency licensing requirements vary by country — confirm local UHF availability before purchasing.
Q: Does the SK 6212 work with the Digital 9000 or EW-D receivers?
No. The SK 6212 is exclusive to the Digital 6000 platform and is only compatible with the EM 6000 and EM 6000 Dante receivers.
