The QPX BRK-1H is a QPX BRK-1H cable retention bracket for the single HDMI input connector on a QPX HIN QuadPlex multi-display processor. It is the input-side counterpart to the output bracket, and it exists for the same reason: on a compact processor, the mass of a 4K-rated HDMI cable is enough to work a connector loose. Integrators specify this QuadPlex HDMI input retention bracket wherever the source feed cannot be allowed to drop unattended, such as a wall-mounted processor driving a lobby display array. It is a mechanical part with no signal path, so it adds no configuration work to commissioning.

Product Description

QPX BRK-1H clamps to the input end of the chassis and captures the HDMI cable coming from the source device, so that pull on the cable is carried by the bracket rather than by the connector shell and the socket behind it. The failure it prevents is a slow one — a connector that backs out a millimetre at a time until the sink loses HDCP authentication and the display goes black. In a rack-mount head-end that fault is a two-minute fix; behind a display or above a ceiling tile it is a truck roll.

This bracket is specific to the HDMI-input QuadPlex model, the QPX HIN. A QPX DIN takes its source over DisplayPort 1.2 and therefore does not use it. On either model, the QPX BRK-4H handles the four HDMI outputs, and most jobs order the pair together on an HDMI-fed unit.
