What is the RDL SF-NP35E?
The RDL SF-NP35E is a PoE++ powered Dante amplifier that converts one Dante channel to a 35 W 70 V or 100 V constant-voltage output. It drives distributed speaker zones directly from a network switch, with no special software required for setup. Built-in port protection limits supply current so the PoE++ switch port stays up during heavy program material. It suits networked paging and background music zones that need more power than a PoE+ amplifier can deliver.
How does it work?

The SF-NP35E converts one Dante network audio channel to a 70 V or 100 V output delivering 35 W for a network level of 0 dBFS. RDL lists PoE operation as Class 4, IEEE 802.3at (PoE++, 4 pairs); it can also run from an external 24 Vdc supply at 2000 mA. The amplifier monitors its own power and limits current to keep the PoE++ port from shutting down, even during extreme feedback or square-wave modulation. A red rear-panel PORT PROTECT LED flashes whenever the SF-NP35E reduces power consumption to protect the port. An internal VCA sets output level from a 10 kΩ potentiometer or 0 to 10 Vdc on a detachable terminal block, and gain stays at maximum when the VCA input is unconnected. RDL remote level controls including the RDL D-RLC10, RDL D-RLC10M and RDL D-RLC3 provide noise-free user volume control. The high-efficiency Class D output stage produces minimal heat and includes thermal and output short-circuit protection. A green front LED confirms Dante sync, and a yellow LED shows when the output is muted. The SYSFLEX enclosure is UL 2043 plenum rated and mounts with the SF-RA1 rack adapter or SF-UCB2 under-counter brackets; RDL recommends the PS-24V3A or PS-24V3 for local power.
What are the key features?
- 35 W constant-voltage output — Drives 70 V or 100 V speaker lines from a single Dante channel.
- PoE++ powered — Runs from a PoE++ switch port or from an external 24 Vdc supply.
- Port protection — Limits current draw so the PoE++ port does not shut down under load.
- Remote VCA control — Accepts a 10 kΩ pot or 0 to 10 Vdc and RDL remote level controls.
- High-resolution Dante — Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bits.
- Plenum-rated enclosure — UL 2043 plenum rated SYSFLEX chassis with Class D efficiency.
Where is it typically used?

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of switch port does the SF-NP35E need?
RDL lists PoE++ operation over 4 pairs. Confirm your switch port can supply PoE++ power, or use an external 24 Vdc supply at 2000 mA.
Will it shut down my switch port?
The amplifier limits its current draw to protect the PoE++ port, and a red PORT PROTECT LED flashes when it does.
How does it compare with the SF-NP16E?
The SF-NP35E delivers 35 W on PoE++, while the SF-NP16E delivers 16 W on PoE+.
How is volume controlled?
Use a 10 kΩ pot, 0 to 10 Vdc, or an RDL control such as the RDL D-RLC10 on the VCA terminal block.
Which external power supply should I use?
RDL recommends the RDL PS-24V3A or RDL PS-24V3.
