What is the RDL FP-PA18?

The RDL FP-PA18 is a compact 18 W Class D power amplifier with a line input, 8 ohm output, integral analog compressor and automatic energy-saving sleep mode. It ships with its power supply and suits paging, background music and small zone reinforcement in offices, retail and meeting spaces.

How does it work?

The balanced line input may be wired unbalanced, and a gain control sets whether the analog limiter only prevents clipping or the full compressor raises average output beyond a standard 18 W amplifier. A red LED shows compression activity, a green LED and open-collector output indicate amplified audio is present, and a blue LED shows power and sleep status. With no input, the amplifier sleeps after a selectable 5, 15 or 25 minute delay and draws less than 1 W of mains power, then restores full operation within 150 ms when audio returns. The included 100 to 240 Vac supply provides 24 Vdc to the module. Rack it with the RDL FP-RRA 19 in. rack adapter, the FP-HRA 10.4 in. rack mount or the DRA-35F DIN rail adapter, or consider the RDL FP-PA18H for high ambient temperatures.
