What is the RDL FP-NML2P?
The RDL FP-NML2P is a Dante network to mic/line interface that converts two Dante audio channels to balanced analog outputs. Each output is switch-selectable for mic or line level, so it can feed a professional line input or the mic input of a mixer-amplifier. The FP-NML2P runs from a PoE-enabled network switch or an external 24 Vdc supply, with hot-standby switchover between the two. It is a practical way to add Dante networked audio to standard amplifiers in conference rooms, classrooms and commercial paging systems.
How does it work?

The FP-NML2P receives two Dante channels and converts them with high-resolution 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and RDL analog filtering. Each line output provides +4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS, so it interfaces directly with professional and commercial equipment without additional gain. A recessed mic/line switch on each output adds 50 dB of attenuation to feed microphone inputs on mixers or mixer-amplifiers. Crosstalk is below the noise floor across the audio spectrum, the noise floor is better than 80 dB below operating level, and headroom exceeds 18 dB. Outputs mute automatically when the digital audio inputs are inactive, which prevents noise when the network stream stops. The FP-NML2P draws Class 0 IEEE 802.3af PoE, and it reserves PoE power even while running from an external 24 Vdc supply. If both sources are connected, the unit runs from the external supply and switches over to PoE if that supply is lost, giving a hot-standby power path. For external power, RDL recommends the PS-24AX 24 Vdc supply; the non-PoE RDL FP-NML2 version is also available. The FLAT-PAK enclosure mounts on shelves, backboards or under tables, or in a rack using the FP-HRA or FP-RRA rack accessories.
What are the key features?
- Two Dante outputs to analog — Converts two Dante network channels to balanced analog outputs on detachable terminal blocks.
- Switch-selectable mic or line — Each output can feed a line input at +4 dBu or a mic input with 50 dB of attenuation.
- PoE with hot-standby — Runs from Class 0 IEEE 802.3af PoE or 24 Vdc and fails over to PoE if the external supply is lost.
- Low noise and distortion — Delivers THD+N under 0.1% with more than 18 dB of headroom above +4 dBu.
- Auto-mute on inactive inputs — Outputs mute when the Dante audio inputs are inactive to keep amplifiers quiet.
- Rack or surface mounting — The FLAT-PAK case installs in racks, closets, on shelves or under conference tables.
Where is it typically used?
- Conference room
- Boardroom
- Training room
- Multi-purpose room
- House of worship
- Government space

Frequently Asked Questions
Can it feed a microphone input?
Yes. Each output has a recessed mic/line switch that provides 50 dB of attenuation for mic-level inputs.
How is it powered?
It runs from a Class 0 IEEE 802.3af PoE switch port or an external 24 Vdc supply at 100 mA. With both connected, it uses the external supply and switches to PoE if that supply fails.
What is the difference between the FP-NML2 and FP-NML2P?
The FP-NML2P adds PoE operation. The RDL FP-NML2 runs from an external 24 Vdc supply only.
Can it share power with RDL FLAT-PAK amplifiers?
RDL lists a 24 Vdc pass-through jack for power sharing with RDL amplifiers on the FP-NML2 model.
What warranty applies?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
