What is the RDL FP-NML2?
The RDL FP-NML2 is a Dante audio network interface that converts two network channels into balanced analog outputs for amplifiers and mixers. Each output is switch-selectable for professional line level or mic level, so it can also feed the mic input of a mixer-amplifier. The module runs from an external 24 Vdc supply and includes a pass-through jack for sharing power with RDL FLAT-PAK amplifiers. It is designed for equipment racks, closets, conference tables, shelves and backboards in commercial installations.
How does it work?

Each line output provides +4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS, so it connects directly to professional and commercial equipment without extra gain. A recessed mic/line switch on each output adds 50 dB of attenuation for equipment that only offers microphone inputs. The noise floor is better than 80 dB below operating level with more than 18 dB of headroom, and crosstalk is below the noise floor between outputs. Outputs mute when the digital audio inputs are inactive, which prevents noise when a Dante flow drops. The FP-NML2 includes a dc output jack and extension cable so it can share a common power supply with an RDL FLAT-PAK amplifier. In that setup one output feeds the FLAT-PAK amplifier input and the second output can drive an additional amplifier. For PoE operation with hot-standby backup, RDL offers the FP-NML2P version. The all-metal enclosure supports free-standing, surface-mounted or rack-mounted operation. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
What are the key features?
- Two Dante outputs — Converts two Dante network channels to balanced analog audio on detachable terminal blocks.
- Mic or line per output — A recessed switch on each output selects +4 dBu line level or 50 dB attenuated mic level.
- High headroom — Line outputs deliver +4 dBu with more than 18 dB of headroom and noise better than 80 dB below operating level.
- Auto-mute outputs — Outputs mute when digital audio inputs are inactive.
- 24 Vdc pass-through — A dc output jack and cable share one supply with RDL FLAT-PAK amplifiers.
- Flexible mounting — The metal enclosure installs free-standing, on a surface or in a rack.
Where is it typically used?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the FP-NML2 and FP-NML2P?
The FP-NML2 runs from an external 24 Vdc supply. The FP-NML2P adds PoE operation and can switch to PoE power if its external supply is lost.
Can it feed a microphone input?
Yes. Each output has a recessed mic/line switch that provides 50 dB of attenuation for mic-level inputs.
Which Dante sample rates are supported?
44.1 kHz and 48 kHz (default) at 24-bit depth over a 100 Mbps connection.
Can it share a power supply with an amplifier?
Yes. The included dc output jack and extension cable let it run from a common supply with RDL FLAT-PAK amplifiers.
What power does it need?
24 Vdc at 100 mA. RDL recommends the PS-24AS power supply for the USA or the PS-24AX for international installations; the supply is not included.
How is it mounted?
RDL lists the FP-HRA 10.4" rack mount, FP-RRA 19" rack adapter, FP-RRAH hinged adapter, FP-RRB1 rear rail kit and DRA-35F DIN rail adapter as mounting accessories.
What warranty does the FP-NML2 carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
