RDL DS-TPA1A – 3.5 W Format-A Decora Amplifier, Stainless
What is the RDL DS-TPA1A?
The RDL DS-TPA1A is a 3.5 W Class D audio amplifier on a Decora-style panel that receives audio and power over twisted-pair cable from an RDL Format-A sender. It is designed for guest rooms, offices and other spaces that need a small local speaker amplifier with a user volume control.
How does it work?
The DS-TPA1A receives stereo audio and 24 Vdc power through a rear-panel RJ45 jack; the left and right signals on pairs B and C are summed to mono and amplified. An internal VCA controlled by the front-panel volume knob sets the output level, and turning the level to minimum switches off the Class D stage for an energy-saving sleep mode. The speaker output connects on a detachable terminal block and drives a 4 or 8 Ω speaker. The DS-TPA1A uses a stainless steel faceplate to coordinate with RDL stainless Decora-style controls in commercial and industrial spaces. Pair it with a Format-A sender such as the RDL FP-TPS4A and mount it in an RDL WB-1U wall box.
What are the key features?
- 3.5 W into 8 Ω — The amplifier delivers 3.5 W RMS into 8 Ω or 6.5 W RMS into 4 Ω.
- Powered over twisted pair — Audio and power arrive on one RJ45 from an RDL Format-A sender.
- Class D efficiency — The high-efficiency output stage produces negligible heat.
- Sleep mode — Setting the level to minimum switches off the output stage to save energy.
- VCA volume control — The VCA attenuator provides years of scratch-free gain adjustment.
- Protection — Thermal and short-circuit protection guard the amplifier.
