What is the RDL DDS-BN2ML?
The RDL DDS-BN2ML is a dual-gang, stainless steel-finish Dante wall interface with one XLR mic/line input, one Mini-jack line input and two line outputs. Every setting is made with switches on the module, so no special software is needed to put it into service. It is PoE powered and gives conference rooms, classrooms and meeting spaces a simple point to connect a microphone and a laptop to a Dante system.
How does it work?

The XLR input is converted to one Dante transmit channel. Three switches, reachable from the front with the cover plate removed, enable P48 phantom, select the mic or line range and set the gain. Mic gain is switch-selectable at 40, 48 or 62 dB, and line gain from unity to 19 dB in three steps. The Mini-jack input accepts mono or stereo unbalanced line sources, sums them to mono and sends them as a second Dante channel at -20 dBFS for a -10 dBV input. Two Dante channels are converted to line level on a rear-panel detachable terminal block, delivering +4 dBu balanced for -20 dBFS network audio. Each output has a switch on top of the chassis to change it to unbalanced -10 dBV for consumer equipment. The outputs are intended to connect to RDL AMS connectors, such as the AMS-XLRMA XLR jack, mounted in matching Decora plates. That output plate can share a triple-gang box with the DDS-BN2ML or mount remotely in its own box. The unit fits a standard US dual-gang electrical box or an RDL WB-2U back box for thinner walls. Green LEDs confirm PoE power and Dante sync, and the discrete mic preamplifier and 24-bit conversion deliver studio-quality, low-noise audio.
What are the key features?
- No software required — Gain, phantom and output level are all set with switches on the module.
- XLR mic/line input — Switch-selectable mic gain of 40, 48 or 62 dB and three line gain settings up to 19 dB.
- Switch-selectable P48 phantom — 48 V phantom power supports condenser microphones.
- Mini-jack line input — Mono or stereo unbalanced sources are summed to mono for one Dante channel.
- Selectable output level — Each output switches between +4 dBu balanced and -10 dBV unbalanced.
- PoE powered — Runs from an IEEE 802.3af PoE switch port with no local power supply.
Where is it typically used?
- Conference rooms and huddle rooms
- Classrooms and training rooms

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need special software to set up the DDS-BN2ML?
Setup of gain, phantom and output levels is done entirely with switches on the unit, so no special software is required to configure the module itself.
What box does the DDS-BN2ML mount in?
It fits a standard US dual-gang electrical box (RDL recommends a 4-inch-square deep box) or an RDL WB-2U international wall box.
How do I get connectors for the outputs?
The outputs are on a rear-panel terminal block intended for RDL AMS connectors in matching Decora plates. AMS-XLRMA XLR jacks are one option, and an RDL CP-2S cover plate is available in a matching finish.
How is the DDS-BN2ML powered?
It is PoE powered from an IEEE 802.3af switch port (Class 0).
Is there a version in another finish?
Yes. The RDL DDB-BN2ML is the same interface in a black finish.
