What is the RDL DB-RN22?
The RDL DB-RN22 is a single-gang, black-finish Dante or AES67 wall plate interface with two front-panel XLR mic/line inputs and two balanced rear-panel outputs. It brings two wired microphones or line sources onto the network at the wall and returns two network channels to local equipment. The plate is PoE powered and configured in RDL CONSOLE or with the RDL Q-SYS plug-in, which suits conference rooms, classrooms and multi-purpose spaces.
How does it work?

Each of the two front-panel XLR inputs is converted to its own Dante transmit channel. Five gain settings are software-selectable per input: 35, 42 or 59 dB for condenser or dynamic microphones, and unity or 12 dB for line-level sources. P48 phantom power can be enabled in software whenever an input is set for mic level. Two Dante channels are converted to balanced line level on a rear-panel detachable wiring block, each delivering +4 dBu for a network level of -18 dBFS. Each output has a software-controlled attenuator in 1 dB steps to -63 dB, then OFF. The outputs can drive local power amplifiers, or feed two XLR jacks mounted next to the plate in a dual-gang box using an RDL DB-D2 dual plate with two AMS-XLRMA jacks. Green LEDs confirm valid PoE power and Dante sync. RDL mic preamplifiers and 24-bit conversion deliver low-noise performance, and the steel chassis mounts behind a black Decora front plate. The DB-RN22 is engineered and manufactured in the U.S.A. for continuous duty.
What are the key features?
- 2x2 Dante or AES67 interface — Two network transmit and two receive channels in a single-gang wall plate.
- Two front-panel XLR mic/line inputs — Each input has software-selectable mic gain of 35, 42 or 59 dB or line gain of unity or 12 dB.
- Software-selectable P48 phantom — Phantom power is available on each input set for mic level.
- Two balanced rear outputs — Outputs on a detachable wiring block deliver +4 dBu for -18 dBFS network audio.
- 1 dB step output attenuators — Each output adjusts from 0 to -63 dB, then OFF, in software.
- PoE powered with Q-SYS plug-in — Runs from an 802.3af PoE port and can be configured with RDL CONSOLE or the RDL Q-SYS plug-in.
Where is it typically used?

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add XLR outputs at the wall?
Yes. The rear-panel outputs can feed two XLR jacks mounted beside the plate in a dual-gang box, using an RDL DB-D2 dual plate with two AMS-XLRMA jacks, available separately.
Does the DB-RN22 need a separate power supply?
No. The DB-RN22 is powered over the network cable from a PoE switch port (PoE Class 0, IEEE 802.3af), so no local power supply is needed at the wall.
How is the DB-RN22 configured?
Input gain, phantom power, output attenuation and Dante routing are set in RDL CONSOLE or other network control software. RDL also offers a Q-SYS plug-in for configuring the module inside a Q-SYS design.
What electrical box does the DB-RN22 fit?
It fits a standard US single-gang electrical box, or an RDL WB-1U back box for thinner European-style walls.
Is the DB-RN22 available in another finish?
Yes. The same interface is sold as the RDL DS-RN22 in a stainless steel finish, so you can match the faceplate to the room.
What warranty does the DB-RN22 carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
