What is the RDL DB-RN12?
The RDL DB-RN12 is a single-gang, black-finish Dante or AES67 wall plate interface with one mic/line input and two outputs. It lets a presenter plug a microphone or line source into the network at the wall while the same plate returns audio to a local amplifier or a front-panel XLR output. PoE power and software setup through RDL CONSOLE or a Q-SYS plug-in make it a practical endpoint for conference rooms and networked paging and sound systems.
How does it work?

The front-panel XLR input is converted to one Dante or AES67 transmit channel. Five software-selectable gain settings cover the input: 35, 42 or 59 dB for condenser or dynamic microphones, and unity or 12 dB for line sources. P48 phantom power can be enabled in software when the input is set for mic level. On the output side, two network channels are converted to balanced audio: one feeds the front-panel XLR and a rear-panel terminal, and the second feeds a separate rear-panel terminal. Each line output delivers +4 dBu balanced for a network level of -18 dBFS, with a software-controlled attenuator in 1 dB steps to -63 dB, then OFF. The front-panel XLR output is software-selectable for mic or line level. Rear-panel outputs can drive local power amplifiers or feed extra XLR jacks mounted next to the plate in a dual-gang box using an RDL DB-D2 dual plate with two AMS-XLRMA jacks. Green LEDs confirm PoE power and Dante sync, and the steel chassis mounts behind a black Decora front plate. The DB-RN12 is engineered and built in the U.S.A. by RDL.
What are the key features?
- 1x2 Dante or AES67 interface — Provides one network transmit channel and two receive channels in a single-gang wall plate.
- Software-selected input gain — Mic gain of 35, 42 or 59 dB and line gain of unity or 12 dB are set in software.
- Software-enabled P48 phantom — Phantom power can be switched on for condenser microphones when the input is in mic mode.
- Front XLR output with mic/line select — The front-panel XLR output can be set to mic or line level to match the connected device.
- 1 dB step output attenuators — Each output is adjustable from 0 to -63 dB, then OFF, in software.
- PoE powered — Runs from an IEEE 802.3af PoE switch port with no local power supply.
- RDL CONSOLE and Q-SYS support — Configure the plate in RDL CONSOLE, other network control software or the RDL Q-SYS plug-in.
Where is it typically used?

Frequently Asked Questions
What microphones work with the DB-RN12 input?
The input has gain settings for condenser and dynamic microphones (35, 42 or 59 dB), with software-selectable P48 phantom for condenser mics. Line sources use the unity or 12 dB settings.
Does the DB-RN12 need a separate power supply?
No. The DB-RN12 is powered over the network cable from a PoE switch port (PoE Class 0, IEEE 802.3af), so no local power supply is needed at the wall.
How is the DB-RN12 configured?
Input gain, phantom power, output attenuation and Dante routing are set in RDL CONSOLE or other network control software. RDL also offers a Q-SYS plug-in for configuring the module inside a Q-SYS design.
What electrical box does the DB-RN12 fit?
It fits a standard US single-gang electrical box. RDL lists the EP-1 adaptor for EU/UK square back boxes with 60 mm screw centers.
Is the DB-RN12 available in another finish?
Yes. The same interface is sold as the RDL DS-RN12 in a stainless steel finish, so you can match the faceplate to the room.
What warranty does the DB-RN12 carry?
This product is covered by a 7-year RDL warranty. For warranty claims, RMAs or support, contact Creation Networks at (888) 230-3661 or sales@creationnetworks.net.
