Product Overview

The QSC NVM-302E is a Q-SYS network video encoder built to distribute 4K60 4:4:4 HDMI sources across large-scale AV-over-IP deployments. Pairing dual HDMI 2.0 inputs with the network-efficient Mediacast transport paradigm, this network video encoder streams high-quality, low-bandwidth video to displays in hospitality, entertainment, collaboration, and government spaces. Because it operates as a native Q-SYS endpoint, integrators configure and route video inside Q-SYS Designer Software alongside DSP, control, and audio—no separate video matrix hardware required. It ships with a single-channel encode app and can be licensed for dual-channel encoding.

Product Description

QSC NVM-302E Q-SYS network video encoder front and rear view

The QSC NVM-302E network video encoder is designed for commercial deployments where dozens or hundreds of HDMI sources must reach networked displays over standard IP infrastructure. Two HDMI 2.0 inputs each accept video formats up to 4K60 4:4:4 with HDCP 2.3 and 1.4 support, making it suitable for protected content in conference rooms, digital signage walls, and multi-purpose venues. With the pre-installed NVM-E1 single-encode app, the two inputs are switched to a single 4K60 4:4:4 stream; adding the NVM-E2 expansion license enables dual-encode, streaming each input as its own 4K30 4:4:4 channel. The Mediacast AV routing paradigm keeps bandwidth predictable so a 4K network video distribution system scales cleanly across a shared LAN.

Deployment is handled natively in Q-SYS Designer Software using the NVM Designer tool, a no-code method for configuring hundreds of endpoints in minutes without additional management hardware. The encoder connects over a single 2.5GBASE-T link and is powered by PoE+ or PoE++, simplifying installation to one cable per endpoint. For third-party device control, it provides two RS-232 ports and two IR transmit outputs, letting integrators drive source devices and displays directly from the Q-SYS control engine. A USB-C port is included for AV bridging in a future firmware release, and 8-channel PCM audio from HDMI is fully Q-SYS routable. Surface-mount hardware is included, and the optional NV-RACK accessory supports rack-mount installation. Deploy the NVM-302E with the companion QSC NVM-302D network video decoder to build a complete Q-SYS encode-and-decode video system.

Key Features

  • Dual 4K60 HDMI 2.0 Inputs — Two HDMI inputs each receive video up to 4K60 4:4:4 with HDCP 2.3 and 1.4, covering protected commercial sources.
  • Selectable Single or Dual Encoding — Ships with the NVM-E1 single-encode app and accepts the NVM-E2 license to stream both inputs as independent 4K30 4:4:4 channels.
  • Mediacast Network Transport — Delivers high-quality, low-bandwidth video so large-scale AV-over-IP distribution stays predictable on a shared network.
  • Native Q-SYS Deployment — Configures inside Q-SYS Designer Software with the no-code NVM Designer tool, deploying hundreds of endpoints without matrix hardware.
  • Single-Cable PoE Installation — A 2.5GBASE-T link with PoE+ (802.3at) or PoE++ (802.3bt) power reduces each endpoint to one cable run.
  • Third-Party Device Control — Two RS-232 ports and two IR transmit outputs drive source and display equipment from the Q-SYS control engine.
  • Routable HDMI Audio — Extracts 8-channel PCM audio from HDMI for full routing within the Q-SYS audio platform.
  • Flexible Mounting — Includes surface-mount hardware and supports the NV-RACK accessory for rack-mount installations.

Typical Applications

  • Conference Room — Encode laptop and room-PC HDMI sources onto the network for distribution to in-room and overflow displays.
  • Commercial Meeting Space — Feed shared content to multiple rooms from a centralized Q-SYS video system.
  • Boardroom — Distribute protected 4K presentation content with HDCP support to primary and confidence displays.
  • Training Room — Route instructor and demonstration sources to student-facing screens across the space.
  • Auditorium — Send stage and presentation video to house displays and projection over the AV network.
  • Government Space — Standardize video distribution across secured, networked rooms managed in Q-SYS.
  • Multi-Purpose Room — Reconfigure source-to-display routing on demand for events, meetings, and presentations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the NVM-302E require a Q-SYS Core to operate?
Yes. The NVM-302E is a Q-SYS network video endpoint managed within a Q-SYS system and configured through Q-SYS Designer Software. It is deployed alongside a Q-SYS Core rather than as a standalone encoder.

How is the encoder installed and powered?
Each unit connects over a single 2.5GBASE-T network link and is powered by PoE+ (802.3at) or PoE++ (802.3bt), so no local power supply is needed. Surface-mount hardware is included, and the optional NV-RACK accessory supports rack installation.

What is the difference between the NVM-E1 and NVM-E2 configurations?
NVM-E1 uses the pre-installed single-encode app, switching the two HDMI inputs to one 4K60 4:4:4 stream. NVM-E2 adds an expansion license that enables dual-encode, streaming each input as an independent 4K30 4:4:4 channel.

Is HDCP-protected content supported?
Yes. Both HDMI 2.0 inputs support HDCP 2.3 and 1.4, allowing distribution of protected commercial sources.

What do I need on the display side to complete the system?
Pair the NVM-302E with the QSC NVM-302D network video decoder, which outputs the networked stream over HDMI to each display.

How does it scale for large deployments?
The NVM Designer tool in Q-SYS Designer Software supports no-code deployment of hundreds of endpoints in minutes, and the Mediacast transport keeps bandwidth efficient across a shared network.

What warranty applies?
The NVM-302E is covered under QSC's standard Q-SYS product warranty. Contact Creation Networks for current warranty terms and commercial support options.
