Product Overview

The QSC CX-Q 4K8 is an eight-channel Q-SYS network amplifier with a 4,000 W power supply, delivering up to 500 W per channel into 8 Ω, 70 V, or 100 V across eight independently configurable outputs. Where the four-channel CX-Q models maximize per-channel power, the 4K8 prioritizes channel count — making it the preferred choice for multi-zone distributed audio where eight speaker zones must be driven from a single chassis. As a native Q-SYS component, it integrates into Q-SYS Designer Software for routing, processing, monitoring, and fault reporting.

Product Description

QSC CX-Q 4K8 eight-channel Q-SYS network amplifier

Built on QSC’s PL380 PowerLight platform with a 5th-generation Class-D hybrid powertrain, the CX-Q 4K8 brings eight network-addressable channels into a 2RU chassis — replacing the rack space and wiring of multiple stacked amplifiers in a multi-zone design. FlexAmp distributes customized output levels per channel from a shared reserve, and FAST (Flexible Amplifier Summing Technology) lets channels be bridged, paralleled, or combined when a zone needs more power. Eight mic/line inputs with +12 V phantom power provide Q-SYS on-ramps directly at the amplifier, and eight bi-directional GPIO connections enable local third-party device control without a separate processor. A universal switchmode supply with active power factor correction and multi-stage sleep modes maintains efficiency across global line voltages. For higher per-channel power across fewer zones, see the four-channel CX-Q 4K4.

Key Features

  • Eight network-addressable channels — Drives eight speaker zones from a single 2RU chassis.
  • 4,000 W power supply — Up to 500 W per channel into 8 Ω, 70 V, or 100 V on every channel.
  • Native Q-SYS integration — Routing, processing, monitoring, and fault reporting in Q-SYS Designer.
  • FlexAmp power distribution — Asymmetric per-channel output from a shared reserve to match zone loads.
  • FAST channel summing — Bridge or parallel channels when a zone needs more power.
  • Eight mic/line inputs — +12 V phantom power; additional Q-SYS on-ramps at the amplifier.
  • Eight bi-directional GPIO — Local third-party device control without a separate processor.

Typical Applications

  • Commercial meeting space — Eight independent zones from one amplifier.
  • Multi-purpose room — Distributed zones with flexible per-channel configuration.
  • House of worship — Lobby, classroom, and overflow zones from a single chassis.
  • Auditorium — Multi-zone distributed coverage under network control.
  • Government space — High-zone-count networked amplification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose the 4K8 over a four-channel CX-Q?
The 4K8 prioritizes channel count, driving eight zones from one 2RU chassis, where four-channel models prioritize higher power across fewer zones.

Does it require a Q-SYS Core?
Yes — the CX-Q amplifiers are native Q-SYS components managed from a Q-SYS Core through Q-SYS Designer Software.

Can it drive both 70V/100V and low-impedance speakers?
Yes. Every channel offers Low-Z, 70 V, and 100 V direct drive, with FlexAmp distributing power per channel.

What if one zone needs more power than 500 W?
FAST allows channels to be bridged or paralleled to deliver more power to a demanding zone.

What about warranty and support?
