Engage is the reason most buyers specify this appliance. It provides centralised configuration and monitoring for NETGEAR AV managed switches, Pro Routers and WiFi 7 access points, including offline provisioning so a rack can be staged on the bench before it reaches site. Auto-Trunk and Auto-LAG interoperability is published for the M4250, M4300, M4350 and M4500 switch families, which is what makes plug-and-play behaviour possible across a multi-switch AV network.

The timing function is the other half of the specification. The built-in PTP grandmaster clock runs up to six instances and covers the profiles that commercial AV and broadcast actually ask for: Default 1588, AES67, SMPTE ST 2059-2, AES-R16-2016 and IEEE 802.1AS gPTP for AVB. It serves up to 1,000 boundary or ordinary clock clients system-wide and 200 per port.
