Product Overview

The Meyer Sound MM-4XP is a self-powered miniature loudspeaker built for high-quality distributed sound systems where space and visibility are limited. Its compact 4-inch design suits fill and spot coverage, hidden installation locations, and front-fill duties in houses of worship, theatrical venues, and corporate AV environments. Using Meyer Sound IntelligentDC technology, the MM-4XP receives both 48 V DC power and balanced audio over a single cable for clean, low-noise distribution. This white-finish model blends into light-colored architectural surfaces while delivering the flat frequency and phase response characteristic of Meyer Sound point source loudspeakers.

Product Description

Meyer Sound MM-4XP 4-inch active loudspeaker in white finish

Housed in a sealed extruded aluminum enclosure that doubles as a heat sink, the MM-4XP integrates a proprietary 4-inch cone transducer with onboard Class-D amplification and signal processing manufactured at Meyer Sound's Berkeley, California facility. The loudspeaker produces a linear peak SPL of 111.5 dB with an operating frequency range of 120 Hz to 18 kHz and very low distortion, reproducing both speech and music with high intelligibility. Power and balanced audio arrive through a single SwitchCraft EN3 5-pin male connector, and the amplifier circuitry stores DC power and tolerates voltage drops to support long cable runs on light-gauge wiring. The MM-4XP requires a Meyer Sound IntelligentDC power supply such as the MPS-482HP or MPS-488HP. For mounting, pair it with the Universal MUB MM-4XP bracket kit in white, and explore additional Meyer Sound loudspeakers in our Meyer Sound collection. For installations requiring a directional pattern in reverberant rooms, the MM-4XPD directional version is also available.

Key Features

  • Self-Powered Design — Onboard Class-D amplification and signal processing eliminate the need for external amplifiers in distributed loudspeaker systems.
  • IntelligentDC Technology — A single SwitchCraft EN3 5-pin connection carries both 48 V DC power and balanced audio for clean, low-noise distribution.
  • White Architectural Finish — The white-painted sealed aluminum enclosure blends into light walls and ceilings in visibility-sensitive installations.
  • Wide-Range Response — A 120 Hz to 18 kHz operating frequency range with flat phase response reproduces speech and music with high intelligibility.
  • High SPL-to-Size Ratio — The 4-inch transducer delivers a linear peak SPL of 111.5 dB despite its miniature footprint.
  • Long Cable Run Support — Stored DC power and voltage-drop tolerance accommodate runs up to 300 feet on 18 AWG wire with just 1 dB of SPL loss.
  • Flexible Mounting — Two 3/8-inch-16 side inserts and the optional MUB-MM4XP U-bracket allow wall and ceiling installation at adjustable angles.

Typical Applications

  • House of Worship — Discreet front-fill and spot coverage for chancel steps and sightline-sensitive sanctuary locations.
  • Commercial Meeting Space — Compact, high-intelligibility reinforcement for corporate AV and presentation environments.
  • Multi-Purpose Room — Distributed coverage for flexible spaces requiring even speech and music reproduction.
  • Auditorium — Stage-lip front-fill and supplemental coverage where loudspeaker visibility must be minimized.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the MM-4XP require a separate power supply?
Yes. The MM-4XP is a self-powered loudspeaker that requires a Meyer Sound IntelligentDC external power supply, such as the MPS-482HP or MPS-488HP, to deliver 48 V DC power and balanced audio over the EN3 connection.

How long can the cable runs be?
Meyer Sound power supplies can deliver DC power to the MM-4XP at cable lengths up to 300 feet with just 1 dB of peak SPL loss using 18 AWG wire. Heavier gauge wiring allows longer runs.

What type of input connector does it use?
The MM-4XP uses a single SwitchCraft EN3 5-pin male connector that carries both 48 V DC power (two pins) and balanced audio (three pins).

How is the MM-4XP mounted?
It includes two 3/8-inch-16 side inserts and accepts the optional MUB-MM4XP U-bracket for wall and ceiling mounting at adjustable angles.

Is the MM-4XP covered by a warranty?
Yes. This product is covered under Meyer Sound's standard product warranty. For details, please contact us.
