Product Overview

The Meyer Sound GALAXY-816 is an 8-input, 16-output digital signal processor that provides comprehensive loudspeaker management and system optimization for permanent installations and touring rigs. Housed in a 2RU rack-mount chassis, it combines audio routing, processing, and monitoring in a single Milan-certified AVB platform. The processor delivers 96 kHz audio processing with extensive input and output EQ, delay, and matrix capabilities. It is controlled from Compass software on Mac or Windows, the Compass Go iPad app, or Spacemap Go for spatial sound design.

Product Description

Meyer Sound GALAXY-816 8-Input 16-Output Digital Processor 2RU

The Galileo GALAXY 816 Network Platform serves as the central audio processor for Meyer Sound loudspeaker systems, handling routing, optimization, and monitoring from one device. Each of its eight processed inputs can receive analog, AES3, or AVB signals, while its sixteen outputs deliver analog and/or AVB audio to powered loudspeakers. Input processing includes gain, 500 ms delay, 5-band parametric EQ, and 5-band U-Shaping EQ; output processing adds polarity reversal, 10-band parametric EQ, Low-Mid Beam Control, atmospheric correction, and simultaneous high- and low-pass filters with slopes up to 48 dB per octave. A sparse 32 x 16 summing and delay matrix lets any input feed multiple independently processed outputs across the system. Milan certification provides plug-and-play interoperability with other Milan devices over redundant AVB networks with fixed, guaranteed latency. The rear panel includes two SIM bus ports for direct connection to Meyer Sound's SIM audio analyzer, and the unit integrates with third-party controllers such as AMX and Crestron. For a lower-channel-count alternative, the Meyer Sound GALAXY-408 4-Input 16-Output Digital Processor offers the same processing capability in a 1RU chassis, and the full Meyer Sound range is available in our Meyer Sound collection.

Key Features

  • Milan-Certified AVB — The processor provides plug-and-play interoperability with other Milan-certified devices via AAF and CRF streams with guaranteed fixed latency.
  • Network Redundancy — Support for redundant AVB networks allows fail-over without audio interruption.
  • Flexible I/O — Eight processed inputs are selectable as analog, AES3, or AVB, and sixteen outputs deliver analog and/or AVB signals.
  • 96 kHz Processing — Audio conversion and internal processing run at 24-bit resolution and a 96 kHz sample rate.
  • Comprehensive Output Processing — Each output offers gain, 2000 ms delay, polarity reversal, 10-band parametric EQ, 5-band U-Shaping EQ, Product Integration, Low-Mid Beam Control, and atmospheric correction.
  • Summing and Delay Matrix — A sparse 32 x 16 matrix assigns gain and delay at each cross point so one loudspeaker can serve multiple processed inputs.
  • SIM Analyzer Integration — Two SIM 3 bus ports let the unit act as a line switcher for Meyer Sound's SIM audio analyzer.
  • Multiple Control Options — The processor is controlled from Compass software, the Compass Go iPad app, or the Spacemap Go spatial mixing app.
  • Console Compatibility — Selectable input and output voltage scaling (+16 dBu or +26 dBu) makes it compatible with most consoles.
  • Third-Party Control — The processor integrates easily with AMX and Crestron control systems.

Typical Applications

  • House of Worship — Centralized loudspeaker management and system tuning for sanctuary sound reinforcement.
  • Auditorium — Multi-zone routing, delay alignment, and optimization for performing arts venues.
  • Multi-Purpose Room — Flexible matrix routing for spaces that reconfigure between presentation and performance use.
  • Government Space — Reliable processing and monitoring for council chambers and civic facilities.
  • Broadcast Studio — Networked AVB audio distribution and processing for studio monitoring environments.

Competitor Comparison

Compared with networked DSP platforms such as the BSS Soundweb London, Biamp Tesira, and QSC Q-SYS Core, the GALAXY-816 is purpose-built for Meyer Sound loudspeaker management rather than general-purpose conferencing or paging. Its Product Integration feature matches the phase characteristics of different Meyer Sound loudspeaker models for the most coherent summation, and its Low-Mid Beam Control and atmospheric correction filters are tailored to large-scale sound reinforcement. While the BSS, Biamp, and QSC platforms offer broad ecosystems for commercial AV, the GALAXY-816 differentiates itself with Milan-certified AVB transport, direct SIM analyzer integration, and Spacemap Go spatial mixing for immersive system design.
