Product Overview
The Meyer Sound Galileo GALAXY 408 is a Milan-certified network processor and loudspeaker management platform that provides comprehensive system control, optimization, and monitoring in a single 1RU rack-mount chassis. It serves as the central DSP and audio routing engine for Meyer Sound loudspeaker systems in both fixed-install and touring applications. The GALAXY 408 offers four processed inputs selectable as analog, AES3, or AVB, plus AVB matrix inputs, feeding eight analog outputs and up to sixteen AVB output channels. Open-source AVB networking and 96 kHz processing make it well suited to installed AV systems requiring precise loudspeaker management.
Product Description

The GALAXY 408 combines audio routing, system optimization, processing, and monitoring in an FPGA-based platform running at a 96 kHz sample rate with 24-bit converters. Input processing includes gain, 500 ms delay, 5-band parametric EQ, and 5-band U-Shaping EQ, while each output adds polarity reversal, 10-band parametric EQ, Low-Mid Beam Control, atmospheric correction, Product Integration, and simultaneous high- and low-pass filters with slopes up to 48 dB per octave. A sparse 32 x 16 summing and delay matrix lets any input route to any combination of outputs with cross-point delay. Being Milan certified, it provides plug-and-play interoperability with other Milan devices over redundant AVB networks with fixed, guaranteed-latency audio transport. The GALAXY 408 is controlled with Compass software on Mac or PC, the Compass Go iPad app, or Spacemap Go for immersive spatial mixing, and it integrates with the SIM audio analyzer and third-party controllers such as AMX and Crestron. For systems requiring more physical analog I/O, the larger GALAXY 816 shares the same processing in a 2RU chassis, and the platform pairs naturally with Meyer Sound self-powered and IntelligentDC loudspeakers from the Meyer Sound range.
Key Features
- Milan-Certified AVB Networking — Provides plug-and-play interoperability with other Milan devices over redundant AVB networks with fixed, guaranteed latency.
- Flexible Input Selection — Four processed inputs are selectable as analog, AES3, or AVB, with 24 additional AVB matrix inputs.
- Sixteen-Channel Output Routing — Provides eight analog outputs and up to sixteen AVB output channels for large loudspeaker systems.
- 96 kHz Processing — FPGA-based DSP runs at a 96 kHz sample rate with 24-bit A/D and D/A conversion.
- Comprehensive Output Processing — Each output offers 10-band parametric EQ, Low-Mid Beam Control, atmospheric correction, Product Integration, and 48 dB per octave filters.
- Cross-Point Matrix — A sparse 32 x 16 summing and delay matrix routes any input to any combination of outputs with independent cross-point delay.
- Multiple Control Options — Controlled via Compass software, the Compass Go iPad app, or Spacemap Go for immersive spatial sound design.
- SIM Analyzer Integration — A rear-panel SIM bus port lets the processor act as a line switcher for the SIM audio analyzer.
Typical Applications
- House of Worship — Serves as the central loudspeaker management and routing processor for distributed worship sound systems.
- Auditorium — Provides system optimization, matrix routing, and monitoring for auditorium and performing-arts loudspeaker rigs.
- Multi-Purpose Room — Manages and processes audio for reconfigurable multi-purpose spaces requiring flexible routing.
- Broadcast Studio — Supports networked audio processing and monitoring in broadcast and production facilities.

Competitor Comparison
| Criteria | Meyer Sound GALAXY 408 | BSS Soundweb London | Biamp Tesira |
| Primary role | The GALAXY 408 is a dedicated loudspeaker management and system optimization processor tuned for Meyer Sound systems. | Soundweb London is a general-purpose installed-sound DSP platform for routing, mixing, and zone processing. | Tesira is a scalable conferencing and installed-audio DSP platform spanning many room types. |
| Networking | The GALAXY 408 uses Milan-certified AVB with guaranteed fixed latency and supported network redundancy. | Soundweb London typically uses Dante or BLU link audio transport rather than Milan AVB. | Tesira commonly uses AVB or Dante depending on the chosen hardware modules. |
| Loudspeaker integration | Product Integration phase-matches different Meyer Sound loudspeaker models for coherent summation. | Soundweb London relies on generic DSP blocks rather than manufacturer-matched loudspeaker libraries. | Tesira applies generic EQ and crossover tools without Meyer Sound model-specific correction. |
| Spatial audio | The GALAXY 408 hosts Spacemap Go for immersive spatial sound design and mixing. | Soundweb London does not provide a native immersive spatial mixing application. | Tesira focuses on conferencing and routing rather than spatial sound design. |
| Measurement integration | A SIM bus port lets the GALAXY 408 act as a line switcher for the SIM audio analyzer. | Soundweb London has no equivalent dedicated analyzer line-switching port. | Tesira does not include a manufacturer-specific analyzer bus port. |
| Form factor | The GALAXY 408 is a fixed 1RU processor with defined 4-in / 8-analog-out I/O. | Soundweb London is offered in fixed and modular chassis with varied I/O counts. | Tesira is a modular, card-based system that scales I/O across larger chassis. |
