Product Overview

The Listen Technologies CLS2 is a wall mount perimeter induction loop driver covering up to 400m², supplied in the USA configuration complete with mains lead. It delivers more than 4.9Arms continuous with four independent inputs, including a 100V line input for taking a feed from an existing paging amplifier. Product Description

Perimeter loop drivers are selected on loop area, aspect ratio and the metal loss measured during survey, not on room capacity. Two rooms of identical floor area can require different current ratings if one has a steel deck and the other does not.

Coverage reaches 250m² at a 1:1 aspect ratio, 310m² at 2:1 and 400m² at 3:1, so loop geometry is as important as floor area when specifying. Output is more than 4.9Arms continuous at 1kHz with short term peaks above 7Arms, into loops from 0.2Ω minimum to 1.3Ω maximum impedance. Frequency response is 80Hz to 6.3kHz ±3dB. Four independent inputs cover most retrofit situations: two balanced mic/line at 10kΩ, a third balanced or unbalanced line input with 12V DC accessory power at up to 100mA, and a fourth accepting either a 100V line or a low impedance speaker feed. That last input is what allows a loop to be added to a building with an existing paging system without re-engineering the audio distribution. The chassis is 200 x 200 x 44mm at 1.8kg, wall mounted via four screws, IP20 rated and specified for -10°C to +40°C. Power draw is 30W nominal, rising to 63W at continuous full output.

Loop conductor and terminations are ordered separately: 14 AWG hearing loop cable for perimeter runs, foil-to-cable crimp lugs where copper foil tape meets cable, and PVC protective extrusion where the loop is surface run.

Commissioning is a measurement exercise against IEC 60118-4, not a listening check. Pair with a field strength meter and its signal connection cables, and use a metal loss test driver at survey stage where the structure contains significant steel.

How do I size the driver for my room?
