Product Overview
The Listen Technologies LA-398 is a twelve-pack of foil-to-cable crimp lugs for #14 to #16 AWG conductors, joining copper foil loop tape to hearing loop cable. Foil tape gives a flat profile under floor coverings; cable handles the run back to the driver. The lug is what joins them, and a poor joint at that transition is a common cause of a loop failing its field strength measurement.
Product Description
Hearing loop installations frequently use two conductor types. Copper foil tape lies flat under carpet or vinyl where a round cable would telegraph through the finish; cable runs back to the driver position.
The transition between them carries the full loop current, so a joint that is merely twisted and taped will heat, oxidise and eventually degrade the field the loop produces. A crimp lug rated for the conductor size makes that joint mechanically and electrically sound.
Order against the number of transitions in the loop design rather than the run length. Pair with 14 AWG hearing loop cable and verify the finished loop with a field strength meter.
