What is the Listen Technologies MHS1-02-W1 Meetinghouse Wi-Fi assistive listening system?
The Listen Technologies MHS1-02-W1 is a complete 2-channel audio over Wi-Fi assistive listening system preconfigured for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouses. It streams live audio over the meetinghouse network to members' own smartphones through the free ListenWIFI app and to eight included LWR-1050-MH Wi-Fi audio receivers. The two channels can carry chapel audio for hearing assistance and a second channel for language translation, supporting up to 500 listeners from a single server.

How does the Listen Technologies MHS1-02-W1 work?
At the head end, the LW-120-02-MH-09 Meetinghouse 2-Channel Wi-Fi Audio Server connects to the wired network and takes audio from the sound system through professional balanced terminal block inputs. It then streams low-latency audio across existing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi coverage, so there is no RF frequency coordination or separate transmitter to manage. Members can listen on their own phones, or borrow one of the LWR-1050-MH Meetinghouse Wi-Fi Audio Receivers, which come pre-programmed to join the meetinghouse network automatically.
Receivers charge and store in the included LA-480 Docking Station 16, which leaves room to add more receivers later. Each receiver ships with an LA-164 Universal Ear Speaker, and four LA-438 Advanced Neck Loops serve members who use telecoil-equipped hearing aids or cochlear implants. The server mounts in one rack unit with the included LW-327 rack mount.

Setup and management run through the ListenWIFI Manager software for Windows, which configures servers, apps, receivers, and optional LA-490 beacons and includes a firmware update tool. The system ships with custom network settings, default channel names, and approved in-app branding, which shortens commissioning at each building. Control and data communications are encrypted end to end. For buildings that need more than two channels, the MHS1-08-W1 Meetinghouse 8-Channel Wi-Fi Audio System uses the same platform. Non-meetinghouse venues should use the standard ListenWIFI servers and receivers instead.
What are the key features of the Listen Technologies MHS1-02-W1?

- Two audio channels — Carries hearing assistance and a translation feed at the same time, and scales with additional servers.
- Up to 500 listeners per server — Supports a full chapel and cultural hall from one server.
- Smartphone or receiver listening — Members use the free ListenWIFI app or borrow a dedicated LWR-1050-MH receiver.
- Runs on existing Wi-Fi — Uses the building's 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless network for venue-wide coverage.
- Hearing-aid compatible — Four included neck loops couple audio directly to telecoil hearing aids and cochlear implants.
- QR code channel access — Members scan a code to join the right channel without manual selection.
- Public address override — Sends announcements to every connected listener regardless of selected channel.
- Beacon-triggered audio — Optional LA-490 beacons switch channels automatically based on location.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the MHS1-02-W1 be used outside a meetinghouse?
It is built and preconfigured for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouses. For theaters, council chambers, classrooms, or other venues, Creation Networks specifies the standard ListenWIFI server and LWR-1050 receivers, which run on the same platform without meetinghouse defaults.
What is the difference between Meetinghouse and standard ListenWIFI equipment?
Listen states that Meetinghouse servers and receivers share the ListenWIFI hardware platform but ship with default settings and content specific to the Church, including pre-programmed network information that lets receivers join any meetinghouse network automatically.
Does the system require a separate wireless network?
No. The server connects to the wired network and streams over the building's existing Wi-Fi access points. Coverage and access point configuration should be checked during design to ensure reliable streaming in every listening area.
How does it connect to the existing sound system?
The server accepts balanced analog audio on terminal block inputs, typically fed from a mixer or DSP output. Creation Networks can design the audio feed, rack integration, and channel assignments as part of the installation.
Can more receivers or channels be added later?
Yes. The docking station has space for additional receivers, and more servers can be added for extra channels or listeners. Browse compatible receivers and accessories in our Listen Technologies collection.
