What is the Kramer MV-4X multiviewer?
The Kramer MV-4X is a 4-window multiviewer and 4x2 seamless matrix switcher with integrated scaling. It takes four HDMI sources and outputs them on an HDMI and an HDBaseT output, either individually full screen or in quad, PiP and PoP layouts, at up to 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 on HDMI and 4K60 4:2:0 on HDBaseT. It suits control rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms and medical spaces that need to view several sources at once.
How does the Kramer MV-4X work?
In multi-window mode, the MV-4X composes up to four HDMI sources on each output using standard and fully customizable views, including quad, PiP and PoP, with an auto-layout mode that changes the number of visible windows based on how many live sources are connected. In matrix mode, it becomes a truly seamless 4x2 switcher with zero-time video cuts, which is ideal when a local monitor previews content before it goes to the remote display.
The MV-4X supports HDCP 2.3, HDR10, BT.2020 and LPCM audio up to 7.1 channels at 192kHz, with independent audio source selection in all modes and a balanced stereo audio output. Chroma keying, selectable colored window borders, logo and boot-screen overlays and image rotation for 4K output on input 1 add production flexibility. Four presets store window arrangements. Control and setup run through the built-in web GUI, OSD-driven front-panel buttons and RS-232, with per-input EDID management. The half-19-inch 1U aluminum enclosure uses convection cooling.
Related multiviewers include the Kramer MV-5 5-channel multiviewer and the Kramer MV-6 3G HD-SDI multiviewer. The HDBaseT output can feed a compatible receiver such as the Kramer TP-580R.
