What is the Kramer EXT3-H-T HDBaseT 3.0 transmitter?

The Kramer EXT3-H-T is an HDBaseT 3.0 transmitter that sends 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 HDR HDMI, bidirectional RS-232 and IR over one twisted pair cable for up to 40m (130ft). It also supports 5K (5120x2880@30Hz 4:4:4) for ultra-wide displays. It is the locally powered version of the EXT3-H-POE-T, suited to rooms where power is available at the source end, such as a lectern, credenza or equipment rack.

How does the Kramer EXT3-H-T work?

The EXT3-H-T converts its HDMI input, with RS-232 and IR, into an HDBaseT 3.0 signal over CAT copper cable. Video travels uncompressed with near-zero latency at up to 18Gbps, so there is no visible lag for presentation or live video, and HDR10, HDCP 2.3, deep color, lossless audio, EDID and CEC are passed from source to display.

As a standard HDBaseT extender, it is backward compatible with other standard HDBT receivers and works as the transmit end for Kramer matrix switchers and switchers with HDBaseT 3.0 receive ports. Kramer also lists up to 70m (230ft) at 4K30 4:4:4 or 1080p.

Bidirectional RS-232 runs at up to 115200 baud with no pre-configuration, and IR is extended both ways for remote device control. DIP-switches handle setup, LEDs show input, output and link status, and the fanless DigiTOOLS enclosure mounts above a ceiling or three across in 1U with the Kramer rack adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which receiver pairs with the EXT3-H-T?

Its matching receiver is the EXT3-H-R. It is also compatible with standard HDBaseT receivers and Kramer switchers with HDBaseT 3.0 inputs.

What is the difference between the EXT3-H-T and EXT3-H-POE-T?

The EXT3-H-POE-T adds symmetrical PoE so either end can power the pair. The EXT3-H-T uses its own 12V power adapter.

Does it support 5K displays?

Yes, 5120x2880 at 30Hz 4:4:4 for ultra-wide displays.

Can it be rack mounted?

Yes. Three units fit in 1U with the Kramer RK-3T-B rack adapter.

What are the HDBaseT 2.0 alternatives?

Compare the Kramer TP-580T or, for longer runs, the Kramer TP-583TXR extended-reach transmitter.
