What is the Kramer VS-84UT presentation system?
The Kramer VS-84UT is an all-in-one 4K@60Hz 4:2:0 presentation system that combines 8x4 HDMI/HDBaseT 2.0 matrix switching, a master room controller, PoE and a power amplifier in one 2U chassis. It switches video, embeds and de-embeds audio, extends signals over HDBaseT 2.0 with USB and PoE, and controls the room's devices. It is a single-box AV presentation switcher for classrooms, lecture theaters and conference rooms that would otherwise need a matrix, controller and amplifier.
How does the Kramer VS-84UT work?
Six HDMI and two HDBaseT inputs route to two HDMI and two HDBaseT outputs. The HDBaseT 2.0 outputs carry USB extension and PoE, so remote receivers and displays can be powered and connected over one cable. Audio handling is extensive: four unbalanced stereo inputs and four balanced stereo inputs (selectable as eight balanced mic inputs) can be embedded or routed, and audio is output as embedded audio, two balanced stereo outputs and a stereo speaker output from the built-in power amplifier.
The integrated master room controller operates over Ethernet and provides one bidirectional RS-485, four RS-232, four IR, four GPI/O and eight relay ports to control projectors, displays, screens, drapes, lighting and sensors. A KNET interface connects auxiliary room controllers such as control keypads and can power them, and an Ethernet gateway controls remote I/O ports. Kramer notes the control ports are for K-Config only and are not compatible with Kramer Control. Advanced per-input EDID management and front-panel controls simplify commissioning, and the 2U 19-inch rack enclosure uses fan cooling.
