Product Overview
The K-Array Kommander KA04 is a 4-channel Class D amplifier with DSP that delivers 4 x 150 W at 4 ohms from a half-rack 1U chassis weighing only 1.2 kg. Built around K-Array's Integrated Electronic Brain running the osKar operating system on a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, this compact installation amplifier handles signal routing, EQ, limiting, and delay without external processing hardware. It is a strong fit for boardroom audio systems, conference room amplification, and multi-zone commercial installations driving K-Array passive loudspeakers. Two units mount side by side in a single rack space with the K-RACK24 kit.
Product Description
The Kommander KA04 sits between the 2-channel Kommander KA02 I and K-Array's larger rack amplifiers, giving integrators four amplified outputs plus a full DSP layer in a footprint smaller than most rack shelves. Inputs cover four balanced Euroblock connections, a 3.5 mm unbalanced stereo AUX, and a TOSLINK optical input, while Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi, and wired Ethernet handle streaming and control. The onboard DSP provides input and output EQ, signal routing, grouping, level adjustment, dynamic limiters, and delay, with dedicated presets for K-Array loudspeakers such as the Rumble and Truffle passive subwoofers and Vyper and Lyzard satellites. The osKar operating system exposes a REST API, and K-Array publishes control plugins for Q-SYS, Crestron, Control4, Symetrix, RTI, Savant, and Kramer, so the KA04 drops into managed AV control environments without custom programming. Day-to-day control runs through the K-Array Connect mobile app over Wi-Fi, while K-Framework3 software handles system design and tuning of multiple amplifiers over a wired LAN. The optional K-PREAMP4S module adds four mic/line preamp inputs with phantom power for speech-driven rooms. Browse companion loudspeakers in the K-Array collection.

Key Features
- 4 x 150 W at 4 Ohms Class D Output — Four amplified channels power separate zones or a complete satellite-plus-subwoofer system from one half-rack unit.
- Integrated Electronic Brain DSP — A quad-core 1.5 GHz processor running osKar handles routing, grouping, input/output EQ, dynamic limiters, and delay onboard.
- Half-Rack 1U Chassis at 1.2 kg — The 219 x 46 x 320 mm aluminum enclosure fits credenzas, lecterns, and shallow racks where full-size amplifiers do not.
- Flexible Analog and Digital Inputs — Four balanced Euroblock inputs, a 3.5 mm stereo AUX, TOSLINK optical, and Bluetooth 4.1 LE streaming cover most source scenarios.
- REST API and Control System Plugins — Published integrations for Q-SYS, Crestron, Control4, Symetrix, RTI, Savant, and Kramer simplify managed-room deployment.
- App and Software Remote Control — The K-Array Connect app manages DSP parameters over Wi-Fi, while K-Framework3 tunes multi-amplifier systems over Ethernet.
- Dedicated K-Array Loudspeaker Presets — Factory presets align the amplifier with K-Array passive speakers and subwoofers for predictable, protected performance.
- Comprehensive Protection Circuitry — Thermal, short-circuit, overload, clip-limiting, and high-frequency protection safeguard connected loudspeakers.
- Expandable with K-PREAMP4S — The plug-in module adds four mic/line preamp inputs with phantom power and adjustable gain.
Typical Applications
- Boardrooms and conference rooms driving discreet K-Array speaker systems
- Huddle rooms needing compact amplification hidden in furniture
- Commercial meeting spaces with multi-zone audio distribution
- Houses of worship powering satellite and subwoofer zones
- Multi-purpose rooms and training rooms with networked AV control
- Government spaces requiring control-system integration

Frequently Asked Questions
Which K-Array speakers does the Kommander KA04 drive?
The KA04 includes factory presets for K-Array passive loudspeakers, including Rumble and Truffle subwoofers and Vyper, Lyzard, and KZ14 satellites. Four channels typically cover two satellite zones plus subwoofer feeds in a single room or several distributed zones.
How does the KA04 differ from the Kommander KA02 I?
The KA02 I is a 2-channel amplifier; the KA04 doubles the channel count to four at 150 W per channel into 4 ohms, in the same half-rack 1U format. Choose the KA04 when a room needs more zones or a stereo satellite pair plus dual subwoofer outputs.
Can the KA04 integrate with Q-SYS, Crestron, or Control4?
Yes. K-Array publishes control plugins for Q-SYS, Crestron, Crestron Home, Control4, Symetrix, RTI, Savant, Kramer, and others, and the osKar operating system exposes a REST API for custom third-party integration.
How is the amplifier mounted in a rack?
The KA04 occupies half a rack width at 1U height. The K-RACK24 accessory mounts two KA04 or KA02 I units side by side in a single standard rack space.
Does the KA04 support microphone inputs?
Not natively, but the optional K-PREAMP4S plug-in module adds four mic/line preamplifier inputs with balanced connections, phantom power, and adjustable gain for speech reinforcement applications.
