Product Description
The Extron NAV E 201 D is a 1G HDMI encoder in a decorator-style wallplate that streams ultra-low latency video and audio over standard 1 Gbps Ethernet networks. This black-faceplate model is a compact AV-over-IP encoder built for installations where the HDMI source sits at the wall and a discreet, in-wall enclosure is needed. Using Extron's patented PURE3 codec, the NAV E 201 D delivers visually lossless video at resolutions up to 4K/60 (4096 x 2160) with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and sub-frame latency over commercial-grade 1000Base-T copper infrastructure.
As a NAV 1G HDMI encoder, the NAV E 201 D is designed for corporate video distribution, command and control rooms, higher education, and training environments. It is fully interoperable with 10 Gbps NAV endpoints, so 1 Gbps streams can be decoded by 10 Gbps decoders in a mixed deployment. The encoder can be powered over the network with PoE+ from a compliant switch or injector, eliminating the local power supply at the wall, and it mounts directly into a standard US three-gang junction box or mud ring.

This page covers the Decorator Black finish. A matching NAV E 201 D in Decorator White is also available. If your installation requires a built-in Ethernet LAN expansion port to share the cable with IP-enabled devices, see the NAV E 401 D in Decorator Black or Decorator White. Key Features
- PURE3 codec encoding — Extron's patented, wavelet-based PURE3 compression streams visually lossless 4K/60 4:4:4 video at bit rates of 250 to 900 Mbps with sub-frame latency and built-in error concealment, tolerating the bursty traffic found on converged networks.
- HDMI 2.0 input and loop-through — Accepts HDMI v1.4 and v2.0 signals at resolutions up to 4K (4096 x 2160) at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, with a second HDMI type A connector for local loop-through to a display or AV system.
- 10 Gbps NAV interoperability — 1 Gbps streams from this encoder can be decoded by 10 Gbps NAV decoders, supporting scalable mixed 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps deployments across an enterprise or campus.
- PoE+ powered — Complies with IEEE 802.3at Type 2 (PoE+) class 4, drawing power directly from a compliant switch and eliminating the need for a local power supply at the wallplate.
- AES67 audio over IP — Streams LPCM and AES67 audio over IP for integration with Extron DSPs and other IP-enabled audio components.
- HDCP 2.3 compliance — Supports HDCP v1.4 and v2.3 for content-protected UHD media, with Key Minder maintaining continuous HDCP encryption and HDCP visual confirmation for non-compliant displays.
- Enterprise security — Includes 802.1X port-based network access control, AES-256 and SRTP (AES-128) stream encryption, a certified FIPS 140-2 cryptographic module, and Microsoft Active Directory authentication.
- Pro Series control — A built-in bidirectional RS-232 and IR control port on a 3.5 mm 5-pole captive screw connector extends Extron Pro Series control beyond the control processor.
- Decorator-style wallplate — Mounts in an included three-gang in-wall metal enclosure with a black decorator faceplate, fitting a standard US 3-gang junction box or mud ring.
- Centralized management — Works with the required NAVigator System Manager for centralized configuration, monitoring, diagnostics, and bulk firmware updates of NAV deployments.
