Product Overview

DTP3 T 321, part number 60-2017-52. The Extron DTP3 T 321 is a USB-C DTP3 transmitter that sends USB-C video, embedded audio, USB data, and bidirectional RS-232 up to 330 feet (100 meters) over a single shielded CAT 6A cable. It accepts one USB-C source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and supports video resolutions up to 4K/60, including 5K formats. A local HDMI output and two USB device ports let the transmitter serve as the room-side connection point for a laptop, a display, and USB peripherals at once. It is built for conference room USB-C connectivity where a single cable at the table has to carry everything the presenter needs.

Product Description

Modern meeting spaces increasingly standardize on a single USB-C tether. That one connector has to carry video to the display, audio into the DSP, USB data to the camera and microphone bar, and power back to the laptop. The DTP3 T 321 consolidates those paths into one shielded CAT 6A run to the rack, which keeps the table plate simple and the pathway count low. Supported signal types include HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.2 Alt Mode with HDCP 2.3, at data rates up to 18 Gbps.

Resolution support spans 640x480 to 4096x2160, covering standard 4K/60 at 4:4:4 as well as ultra-wide formats such as 3440x1440 and 3840x1600 used in extended desktop and Microsoft Teams layouts. Because the transmitter passes bidirectional RS-232, display control travels the same cable as the image, which removes a separate control run from the pathway budget.

The local HDMI output is useful where a confidence monitor or a local display sits at the table position, and the two USB device ports give the presenter direct connection for a keyboard, presentation remote, or storage device without a separate hub. Where the deployment also needs to charge the connected laptop at up to 100 watts, pair the transmitter with the Extron UPI 100 power inserter, which can be installed up to 330 feet from the transmitter.

For commercial deployment, terminate on shielded CAT 6A and observe Extron's shielded twisted pair recommendations for the full 330 foot distance. Rack-side, the transmitter pairs with DTP3 receivers and DTP3-equipped switching. Integrators building the same signal path into a wallplate rather than a table position should look at the two-input DTP3 T 322 D instead.

Key Features

  • USB-C source input — Accepts a USB-C source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, with two or four lane operation.
  • 330 foot extension — Sends video, audio, USB data, and RS-232 up to 330 feet (100 m) over one shielded CAT 6A cable.
  • 4K/60 support — Handles resolutions up to 4096x2160 at 60 Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling, at data rates to 18 Gbps.
  • Ultra-wide and 5K formats — Supports 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1080, 3840x1440, and 3840x1600 for extended desktop layouts.
  • Local HDMI output — Feeds a confidence monitor or local display at the transmitter position without a separate splitter.
  • Two USB device ports — Connects a keyboard, presentation remote, or storage device directly at the room-side plate.
  • Bidirectional RS-232 — Carries display control over the same cable as video, reducing the number of pathway runs.
  • USB-C charging support — Delivers up to 100 watts of USB-C power to the source when deployed with the Extron UPI 100 power inserter.
  • HDCP 2.3 compliant — Maintains protected content paths for laptops and media sources under current HDCP requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cable does the DTP3 T 321 require for full distance?

Extron specifies shielded twisted pair for DTP3 signal paths. Use shielded CAT 6A, terminated to the shielded standard end to end, to reach the full 330 feet (100 meters). Unshielded cable and mixed shielded/unshielded segments will reduce achievable distance and can introduce errors at 4K rates.

Does the transmitter charge a connected laptop on its own?

No. USB-C power delivery to the source requires the Extron UPI 100 power inserter, which supplies 100 watts and can be installed up to 330 feet from the transmitter. Order the UPI 100 separately if charging is part of the room requirement.

Which sources are compatible?

Any USB-C source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Laptops that expose USB-C data only, without Alt Mode video, will not pass an image. Confirm Alt Mode support on the specific laptop fleet before standardizing a room design.

Can display control run over the same cable?

Yes. The transmitter passes bidirectional RS-232 alongside video, audio, and USB data, so a control system can reach the display without a dedicated control cable in the pathway.

What receiver pairs with this transmitter?

The DTP3 T 321 works with Extron DTP3 receivers and DTP3-equipped switching and matrix products. Match the receiver to the display-side signal requirement, and confirm both ends support the same maximum data rate for your resolution.

What warranty applies?

Extron provides a manufacturer warranty on this product. Creation Networks handles warranty coordination for equipment purchased through us, including RMA processing with Extron.

Is design and integration support available?

Yes. Our team can review the signal path, cable specification, and rack-side pairing for a DTP3 deployment before you order, and can quote at project volume.
