Product Overview

The Epiphan Pearl Nano Streamer & Recorder is a compact, single-channel hardware encoder with 12G-SDI and HDMI inputs for portable and installed AV deployments. This Pearl Nano streamer and recorder handles simple encoding productions or more complex setups, with SRT contribution encoding for remote guests and broad streaming protocol support. PoE+ power and a small metal chassis make it well suited to event streaming, lecture capture, and space-constrained AV integration. For integrators who need reliable single-channel streaming and recording in a portable form factor, the Pearl Nano is a flexible building block.

Product Description

The Pearl Nano accepts a 12G-SDI input and a 4K HDMI input, with an HDMI program output and a zero-latency HDMI pass-through to local monitors. Audio support includes dual XLR, RCA, and USB inputs, and the unit can be powered over PoE+ instead of the included power supply to simplify cabling in installed spaces. An SD card slot and an internal M.2 SATA SSD bay allow local recording, with automatic transfer of files to a USB drive, local server, or network-attached storage.

For live production, the Pearl Nano's SRT encoding and decoding with end-to-end control let it serve as a contribution encoder for remote guests, and broad streaming protocol support covers SRT, HLS, RTMP, and RTMPS to publish to any CDN or streaming server. The custom layout designer builds anything from simple picture-in-picture to compositions with dynamic backgrounds and custom graphics. The encoder supports both H.264 and H.265/HEVC, and 4K encoding and recording are available with the Pearl Nano 4K Add-On. It integrates with Kaltura, Panopto, YuJa, and Opencast plus Crestron and Q-SYS control platforms. Integrators often pair multiple Pearl Nano units for distributed capture, step up to the touchscreen Pearl Mini for multi-channel switching, or choose the flagship Pearl-2 for full multi-camera production.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many channels can the Pearl Nano encode?

The Pearl Nano is a single-channel encoder. It produces one 1080p channel at 60 fps, or one 4K channel at 30 fps when the Pearl Nano 4K Add-On is installed.

Does it support 4K out of the box?

4K encoding and recording require the Pearl Nano 4K Add-On. Without the add-on, the Nano operates as a 1080p single-channel encoder.

Can it be powered over the network?

Yes. The Pearl Nano can be powered over PoE+ (802.3at) or with the included external power adapter, which simplifies cabling in installed AV spaces.

How does it work for remote guests?

The Pearl Nano supports SRT encoding and decoding with end-to-end control, so it can act as a contribution encoder to bring remote guests into a larger production.

How does it integrate with an AV control system?

It exposes HTTP/HTTPS and RS-232 APIs and provides Crestron and Q-SYS drivers for integration with room control systems.

Where are recordings stored?

Recordings are written to an SD card or an internal M.2 SATA SSD and can be transferred automatically to a USB drive, local server, or network-attached storage.

What warranty and support are included?

The Pearl Nano carries Epiphan's standard manufacturer warranty. For warranty terms, configuration help, or integration support, contact the Creation Networks team before purchase.
