Product Overview
The Epiphan Pearl-2 Rackmount Video Production Device (2 RU) is a six-input live video production system built for permanent installation in equipment racks. It combines switching, encoding, recording, and multi-destination streaming in a single rack-mount chassis, making it well suited to fixed lecture capture, broadcast studio, and commercial AV integration deployments. AV system designers can connect cameras and computer sources over 12G-SDI, HDMI, USB, and IP, then control production from the front touchscreen or the browser-based Epiphan Live interface. This is the rack-mount Pearl-2 hardware encoder for AV integrators who need reliable, always-on multi-camera production.
Product Description
The Pearl-2 Rackmount delivers the full capability of the flagship Pearl-2 platform in a 2 RU enclosure designed for rack installation and unattended operation. It accepts up to six video sources and multiple audio inputs, then encodes, switches, and records them while publishing to streaming destinations at the same time. Operators build custom layouts, including picture-in-picture, using the drag-and-drop editor in the web-based Admin panel, and apply backgrounds, overlay images, text, and timestamping to each program.
For permanent installations, the Pearl-2 Rackmount supports simultaneous recording of high-quality ISO files for post-production while streaming the program output to YouTube, Facebook, Wowza, Akamai, and other CDNs over RTMP, RTMPS, SRT, RTSP, and HLS. A built-in streaming server distributes unicast or multicast streams across the local network to web browsers, smart TVs, and set-top boxes. The system integrates with content and learning management platforms such as Kaltura, Panopto, YuJa, and Opencast, and exposes an HTTP/HTTPS and RS-232 API plus Crestron and Q-SYS drivers for control-system integration. Compared with the portable Pearl-2 Base Video Mixer it shares the same processing core, while teams needing a smaller footprint often pair it with the Pearl Mini or the single-channel Pearl Nano.

Frequently Asked Questions
What video sources can the Pearl-2 Rackmount accept?
It accepts up to six sources across 12G-SDI, HDMI, 4K HDMI, and USB 3.0 inputs, plus IP sources over Ethernet via RTSP, NDI, and SRT. This lets integrators combine cameras, computer feeds, and network streams in one production.
How does it mount in a rack?
The unit ships in a 2 RU 19-inch rack-mountable enclosure with mounting tabs, designed for installation and continuous operation in standard AV equipment racks.
How does it integrate with an existing AV control system?
The Pearl-2 exposes an HTTP/HTTPS and RS-232 API and provides dedicated Crestron and Q-SYS drivers, so it can be controlled from room control panels and integrated into larger AV systems.
Does it require a separate 4K add-on?
4K encoding and streaming are standard on current Pearl-2 units. Units purchased before April 5, 2026 require the Pearl-2 4K Feature Add-On to activate 4K; contact us if you are unsure which applies to your unit.
