The BirdDog P4K (White) is a commercial-grade 4K Full NDI® PTZ camera built around a 1" Sony Exmor R CMOS backlit sensor — the largest sensor format available in the NDI PTZ category. Designed for broadcast studios, houses of worship, auditoriums, and AV system integration, the P4K delivers 4K UHD video over Full Bandwidth NDI® on a single Gigabit Ethernet cable with simultaneous 6G-SDI and HDMI outputs. Product Description
At the core of the P4K is a 14.2-megapixel 1" Sony Exmor R CMOS backlit sensor — a sensor format previously associated with cinema and broadcast cameras. This gives the P4K substantially more light-gathering capability than 1/2.5" or 1/2.8" sensors common in other NDI PTZ cameras, making it well-suited for large sanctuaries, performance venues, and auditoriums where lighting varies and image quality is critical. The 12x optical zoom with Super Resolution Zoom (18x in 4K, 24x in HD) provides flexibility from wide-room coverage to tight close-ups without sacrificing resolution.
The P4K transmits Full Bandwidth NDI® over standard Gigabit Ethernet — visually lossless 4K video on a single network cable. The camera outputs simultaneously via one 4K HDMI Type-A port and two 6G-SDI ports (or Dual Link 3G-SDI), making it compatible with both IP-based AV systems and traditional SDI production environments. Control is handled via NDI auto-configuration, VISCA IP, or RS-232/RS-422 serial — the full range of protocols required for integration with hardware switchers, control systems, and third-party PTZ controllers. Power is via PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) or 12V DC. The camera includes bi-color tally lights front and back for production use, 128 speed-adjustable presets, and full BirdUI browser-based configuration with RESTful API support for Crestron, AMX, and Q-SYS integration. Pair with the BirdDog KBD PTZ Controller for professional multi-camera control.

Does the P4K support NDI|HX?
No. The P4K outputs Full Bandwidth NDI® only. Full NDI delivers visually lossless 4K at approximately 140–200Mbps and requires Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure. For NDI|HX3 in 4K60, see the BirdDog X5 Ultra.
What production software is compatible?
The P4K works with any NDI-enabled platform: NewTek TriCaster, Vizrt, vMix, OBS Studio (NDI plugin), Wirecast, and BirdDog Central. VISCA IP and RS-422 serial control are also available.
What PTZ keyboard is compatible?
The BirdDog KBD supports NDI, VISCA, and RS-422 and is compatible with the P4K. Note: the KBD's live multiview requires NDI|HX streams; P4K Full NDI sources display identification text on the KBD screen.
What is the maximum 4K frame rate?
The P4K outputs 4K UHD at up to 4Kp30 (29.97/25/24/23.98fps). For 4K60, see the BirdDog X5 Ultra.
What PoE standard is required?
The P4K requires PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) at up to 28W maximum. Standard PoE (802.3af) is insufficient. Verify your switch provides at least 30W per port.
What mounting options are available?
The BirdDog P-series wall mount supports ceiling, wall, and pole configurations and is compatible with the P4K.
