The BirdDog KBD is a professional NDI PTZ camera controller designed for operators who need precise multi-camera control in live production environments. It features a 5" multiview display supporting up to four simultaneous NDI|HX or RTSP video previews, a 10x super-fine joystick mode for on-air reframing, and a built-in NDI tally border that integrates with TriCaster, vMix, and other NDI-enabled production switchers. The KBD connects via NDI, VISCA, ONVIF, RS-232, and RS-422, making it compatible with BirdDog P-series and X-series cameras as well as third-party PTZ cameras using standard control protocols. Made with ocean-bound plastics and aircraft-grade aluminum.

Product Description

The KBD is purpose-built for camera operators who control multiple PTZ cameras in live production. Its 5" integrated display shows up to four live NDI|HX or RTSP video previews simultaneously — operators can monitor camera feeds directly on the controller without a separate multiview monitor. Switching to full-screen on the KBD display provides a single-camera preview for critical framing confirmation before a cut. Note: the KBD's live video preview requires NDI|HX2/HX3 or RTSP streams; Full NDI cameras (P400, P4K) will display camera status text rather than live video on the KBD screen.

The 10x super-fine joystick mode increases joystick sensitivity by 10×, enabling artistic on-air reframing with fine, controlled movement rather than abrupt jumps. The built-in tally border activates when a camera goes live in NDI-integrated switchers, giving the operator a clear visual cue without looking away from the joystick. Camera setting sync — an industry-first feature — allows operators to copy color and image settings from one BirdDog X-series camera to another of the same model, eliminating manual matching across multi-camera setups. Pair the KBD with BirdDog X-series cameras such as the X5 Ultra for the most integrated control experience, or with P-series cameras via VISCA/RS-422.
