Product Overview
The Biamp Voltera D 4800.2M is a two-channel networked amplified loudspeaker controller that combines 4800 W of Class D amplification with a fully programmable onboard DSP in a single rack unit. It is built for commercial AV integrators driving high-power loads on a small number of channels, such as subwoofers or long throw arrays. As a rack-mount DSP amplifier, the Voltera D 4800.2M drives low-impedance, 70V, or 100V loudspeakers and supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 for networked audio distribution. Onboard processing lets it replace an external DSP in many commercial audio designs.
Product Description
The Voltera D 4800.2M concentrates 4800 W across two channels, delivering 2400 W per channel with all channels driven for the highest per-channel output in the Voltera D M line. Its onboard DSP offers headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ, so a single chassis handles amplification and loudspeaker processing together. Each channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, or 16 ohm loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, configured from the loudspeaker profile chosen during commissioning. Power sharing allows up to 100% of total power through a single channel, and the two-channel design suits systems that need very high output on dedicated loudspeaker zones. The amplifier is 100% software configurable through Biamp Tesira or VenueTune, and the ALAMOS profile library covers more than 200 Biamp models to speed setup. Distributed processing means system cost scales with power needs rather than a central resource. The unit can be sustained through PoE+ so the processor stays online without a reboot during a mains power loss, and it supports failover-to-analog operation. Integrators can compare the four-channel Voltera D 4800.4M and the standard-DSP Voltera D 4800.4, or view the full Biamp collection.
Key Features
- 4800 W Across Two Channels — The amplifier delivers 4800 W total with both channels driven, supplying 2400 W per channel for high-output loudspeaker zones.
- Onboard Programmable DSP — A fully programmable DSP with headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ handles loudspeaker processing and distribution without a separate processor.
- Networked Audio Support — The unit supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports in converged, split, or redundant network modes.
- High-Output Power Sharing — Power sharing delivers up to 100% of total power through a single channel, reaching 4660 W at 100V on one output.
- Flexible Output Drive — Each channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines.
- PoE+ Processor Sustain — When port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch on a UPS, the processor stays online through a mains power loss without rebooting.
- ALAMOS Profile Library — Nearly 700 loudspeaker profiles covering more than 200 Biamp models speed commissioning in Tesira or VenueTune.
- Single Rack Unit — The 1 RU chassis provides high power density where rack space is limited.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Voltera D 4800.2M require a separate DSP?
No. It includes a fully programmable onboard DSP with headroom equivalent to a TesiraFORTÉ, so in many designs it replaces an external processor for loudspeaker management.
Why choose the two-channel model over the four-channel version?
The two-channel 4800.2M concentrates power into 2400 W per channel, which suits high-output zones such as subwoofers or long throw arrays that need more power on fewer outputs.
Which loudspeakers can it drive?
Each channel drives 2.7, 4, 8, and 16 ohm low-impedance loads as well as 70V and 100V constant-voltage lines, set through the loudspeaker profile selected during configuration.
What audio networks does it support?
It supports AVB, Dante, and AES67 over two 1000Base-T ports and can run in converged, split, or redundant network modes.
Will it stay online during a power outage?
If port 1 is connected to a PoE+ switch backed by a UPS, the processor is sustained through a mains power loss without rebooting, and the unit supports failover-to-analog operation.
How much rack space does it need?
The chassis occupies a single rack unit (1 RU) and ships with a rear support kit for 19-inch rack mounting.
What warranty and compliance does it carry?
The Voltera D M series carries a 5-year warranty and is compliant with the US Trade Agreement Act (TAA).
